He gazed down at her. The slow, deliberate way he spread his arms made it look as though he were about to pull her into a deep embrace.
Camilla absolutely refused to meet his eyes, stepping quickly behind him instead.
Only when his striking face was out of sight and she couldn't feel the weight of his stare did she finally exhale.
"I'll start with the shoulders," she murmured.
Susan stood by with her notepad, ready to record.
Camilla raised her hands, lightly pressing the soft tape against the edge of his shoulder.
He was wearing nothing but a crisp white dress shirt tucked neatly into tailored trousers.
Broad shoulders, a narrow waist—a perfect, powerful v-shaped physique.
She always knew he was tall, but standing this close, she realized she had to lift her arms uncomfortably high just to measure across his back.
Shoulder width and arm length were manageable.
Those were just the basics.
But then came the chest, waist, hips, thighs, neck...
And the chest measurement alone required taking the upper chest, lower chest, and measurements during both inhalation and exhalation.
Camilla took a deep breath and stepped around to face him.
Because of Susan's petite height, the atelier kept a low stepping stool specifically for taking measurements.
Camilla stepped onto it, finally bringing herself to eye level with Lambert.
She forced her gaze straight ahead, desperately controlling her fingers so they wouldn't graze his skin.
Leaning in just an inch, she looped the tape around the back of his neck to get the collar size.
Suddenly, a shout from Susan's husband echoed from the back room.
Susan immediately put her pen down. "Cammie, keep going. I need to check on Grandpa."
With Susan gone, the sprawling atelier was left completely silent, save for the two of them.
Camilla's hand trembled, her fingertips accidentally brushing the heated skin of his neck.
"Take your time," Lambert murmured, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
Camilla's heart skipped a beat, a sudden panic flaring in her chest.
She lowered the tape measure. "Let's just wait. Susan needs to write the numbers down anyway..."
"There's no need," Lambert said smoothly. "Just call out the measurements. I'll remember them."
"There are too many..."
"You don't trust my memory?" Amusement laced his deep voice. "Test me."
