Camilla didn't take it personally. She didn't plan on crossing paths with this woman ever again anyway.

Just by looking at Camilla's expression, Catheleen knew exactly what she was thinking.

She spoke up sharply. "There are billions of people in the world. What, you want to meet all of them?"

Her words were laden with sarcasm.

Jeanette didn't get angry. Instead, she kept smiling. "I only want to get to know her because she's your friend. I just wanted to invite you both to hang out at the private club tonight. I didn't mean anything else by it."

"We're not going," Catheleen said bluntly. "If you actually wanted us there, you would have invited us earlier. Asking us right now makes it obvious we're just seat-fillers."

"That's not true," Jeanette explained softly. "Lambert is coming tonight too. It'll be a fun group."

"My brother is going? Lambert?" Catheleen was skeptical. "You invited him?"

"He'll be there. We're all friends. It's just a casual get-together, you should come."

Jeanette deliberately ignored Catheleen's last question.

Yet, the way she phrased it made it sound as though she was the one who had invited Lambert.

One of the girls next to Jeanette suddenly chimed in. "Catheleen, you should watch your attitude with Jeanette. After all, she's going to be your future sister-in-law."

Catheleen fired back instantly. "Who the hell are you? Do you have any right to speak here? Even if she marries him, what, does that mean Lambert stops being my family? A wife can be replaced, but he only has one sister!"

Jeanette quickly shot the girl a warning glare before turning back with a placating smile. "Catheleen, don't mind her. She doesn't know what she's talking about."

Catheleen had never liked Jeanette to begin with.

She knew that once Lambert got married, he would naturally prioritize his wife.

Even though she boasted about being his only sister, it was really just putting on a brave front in public.

With that, she grabbed Camilla. "Let's go!"

"Catheleen!" Jeanette hastily called after her. "Don't be mad! I didn't mean anything by it. Please don't take her words to heart..."

Catheleen dragged Camilla further away, refusing to even glance back.

Once they stepped into the elevator, Catheleen fumed. "They aren't even officially engaged yet, and she's already throwing around the title of Matriarch! If she actually marries my brother, her ego will blot out the sun!"

Still not satisfied, she huffed angrily. "Lambert must be blind! How could he ever fall for her!"

Stepping out of the elevator, the more Catheleen thought about it, the more furious she felt. "No! I'm going tonight to see what exactly is going on between them!"

Camilla looked at her in surprise. "Are you really going?"

"I have to!" Catheleen said, clinging to Camilla's arm. "Cammie, you have to come with me!"
