Camilla couldn't take the tension anymore. "I'm not cold anymore. My feet are warm. You don't have to do this."
"It's fine, I have nothing better to do." Lambert didn't budge. "And I'm not charging you by the hour. Why are you so anxious?"
Camilla tried another angle. "Since the caregiver is here, why don't you go home?"
"The caregiver is just here to assist me," Lambert replied calmly. "If you weren't so easily embarrassed, I'd handle everything myself."
"Well, you can't just sit there all night, can you?"
"You're right. I'll lie down in a bit."
Panic spiked in Camilla's chest. "The bed is tiny! There's no way two people can fit!"
Lambert decided to put her out of her misery. "This is a hospital suite. There's another bedroom attached. I'll sleep in there."
"Then you should go sleep right now!"
Camilla couldn't wait to shove him out the door.
Lambert shook his head. "It's still early. You're the patient, I need to stay and keep you company."
"I want to sleep."
"Then sleep." Lambert offered a faint smile. "I won't disturb you. Get a good night's rest so you can start walking around tomorrow."
"But with you sitting right here, I can't sleep!"
His presence was utterly suffocating, and her feet were still pressed intimately against his skin.
What kind of psychopath could just ignore all that and drift off to sleep peacefully?
"Why can't you sleep?" Lambert set his phone down. "Is something hurting?"
*Looking at you hurts.*
But Camilla didn't dare say it out loud.
She had come to realize that Lambert's mouth was a lethal weapon—one sentence from him and her heart was in absolute shambles.
If they kept talking, she would completely lose her grip on reality.
The more time she spent with him, the more she discovered his irresistible traits.
Beyond the staggering height, striking looks, and massive fortune, a man's character and personality were the ultimate draw.
Strip away the billionaire titles, and Lambert was still profoundly captivating.
All of Camilla's awkwardness, anxiety, and restraint stemmed from his overwhelming presence and her own growing affection for him.
She was nervous because she liked him.
