Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 284

Barbara had posted photos on her social media feed, but they were mostly artsy side profiles.

She was confident in her looks.

She might not be drop-dead gorgeous like Camilla, but she was easily better looking than eighty percent of girls out there.

But Lambert had never once brought up her appearance.

Barbara had even tried to hint at it playfully.

He simply replied that he valued a woman's personality and grace above all else.

Everything else was secondary.

Because of that, Barbara worked even harder to curate her elegant, intellectual persona on her social media feed.

The thought of flying back, meeting him in person, and having Daniel potentially ruin everything made her stomach tie in knots.

She had to cut Daniel loose before she boarded that flight.

As far as she was concerned, her future with Lambert was already locked in.

The second she landed, they would make things official.

But to get there, she needed absolute zero interference.

After plotting her angle, she dialed Daniel's number.

Daniel was in a foul mood.

He never expected Camilla to be so capable.

He had spent their entire marriage treating her like garbage, but knowing she had moved on and found someone else made him sick with jealousy.

It was the suffocating feeling of having his property stolen.

He might not have wanted the toy, but that didn't mean someone else was allowed to play with it.

He had agreed to the divorce, but his chest felt hollow and agonizingly tight.

He was downing a drink at a bar when his phone lit up with Barbara's name.

He scrambled to answer, his voice overly eager. "Barbie! You actually called me!"

"Because... I didn't want to hurt you," Barbara sniffled, playing the victim. "But I thought about it, and I couldn't keep lying to you. Daniel, even though I'm seeing someone, you are still such an incredibly important person in my life. Do you understand?"

"What does that matter if you're with someone else?" Daniel's voice cracked with devastation. "How could you do this to me? You knew I was in love with you..."

"We just aren't right for each other. I thought about being with you, I really did... but I just can't do it."

"Why?"

"Back then, it was because Camilla was so in love with you. I couldn't steal you from her. And then you married her. As her older sister, how could I ever cross that line with my brother-in-law? Daniel, we were just doomed from the start in this life. But I promise you, in our next life, and the life after that, I'll be yours. Okay?"

"Who gives a damn about the next life! I want you now!"

Barbara frowned. She hadn't expected him to be this difficult.

Usually, two sweet words from her had him eating out of the palm of her hand.

She let out a dramatic sigh. "Daniel, you're being so unreasonable. It breaks my heart. Do you really want to see me cry?"

"You're giving yourself to another man! Think about how I feel! Who the hell is he? How is he better than me?!"
