Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 29

Faust couldn’t believe what he was seeing today. Lambert had really gone all out with his “surprise.”

Now everything finally clicked. Every weird thing Lambert had done made sense: the yacht, the party, inviting some distant cousin like Daniel. The way Lambert came downstairs right when Daniel showed up, greeted everyone, then disappeared back upstairs “for work.” The whole elaborate setup had been for one person—Camilla.

He’d really jumped through hoops just for a chance to see her.

Guys in their world spent money to impress women all the time, but Lambert was on another scale. But nobody could top Lambert. The guy dropped billions on a superyacht without batting an eye. And for what? Camilla was still married. Was Lambert just bold, or was he an idiot?

Then Owen dropped a bomb that stunned Faust all over again.

Right now, Owen looked miserable. His whole body ached. He’d been right in the middle of something, then got yanked away, practically slammed against the wall, scared half out of his mind. He was so shaken he wasn’t sure he’d be able to function the next time he was alone with a woman.

Faust gave him a look. “Forget your problems for now. You should be worrying about how you’re gonna clean up the mess you made with Lambert’s woman.”

Owen stared at him, confused. “Isn’t she Daniel’s wife? How could she be the woman Lambert’s protecting?”

Faust shrugged. He didn’t really get what was going on in Lambert’s head, either. Camilla was married, after all. If word got out that she and Lambert were close, it’d be a mess.

“It doesn’t matter who she’s married to,” Faust said. “What matters is, Lambert is looking out for her. That should be enough for you. Stop making excuses and start thinking about how you’re getting out of this.”

Owen’s face twisted in protest. “You know how I am, Faust. Plus, Daniel brought her to me himself!”

“And did she want to be there?” Faust asked. “If you’re not careful, this could easily end with you getting accused of doing something serious.”

There weren’t many things Owen was afraid of, but Lambert was one of them. He usually tried his best to stay far away.

“I didn’t even touch her,” Owen insisted, holding up his hands like he was taking an oath. “Seriously, nothing happened. You guys showed up before anything could.”

“Daniel and Camilla have been married for three years, but he’s never touched her. Not even once!”

Faust’s eyebrows shot up. That explained a lot. Three years. Not a single time. Unless Daniel was sick or something, who would believe that?

Owen nodded seriously. “Swear to God, it’s the truth. Daniel said he’s in love with someone else, so he never touched Camilla. Personally, I think there’s some kind of problem. Otherwise, with a bombshell like Camilla, how could anyone resist...”

As the words left his mouth, Owen looked downright regretful and frustrated.

How did this all get tied back to Lambert? The way Lambert had acted earlier, it looked like he really might kill him.

Now Owen realized he’d probably never get his shot with Camilla. Nobody would dare touch a woman Lambert protected.

Faust felt like kicking him, honestly. The guy still had that lovesick look on his face, even now.
