Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 92

"Don't be so hard on yourself. You're nothing like Owen."

Faust let out a long sigh. "All these blind dates, they're just about finding families that match up, you know? Nothing else really matters. Even if I got married, it'd just be to get by. We'd act polite to each other, pretend to be a loving couple in front of everyone, but behind closed doors, we'd be cold and distant. What's the point of that?"

"Didn't you used to have a girlfriend?" Lambert asked.

"We broke up ages ago," Faust said. "She went abroad for grad school and dumped me just like that. Man, you really don't keep up with your friends, do you? I've been single forever."

"Is it because you can't move on from her?"

Faust shook his head. "No, it's just that I haven't met anyone right. I'm not the kind of guy who can just settle."

"Weren't you hurt when she left you?"

"Not really," Faust admitted. "Honestly, we were together for pretty basic reasons, nothing special. It wasn't deep."

"You two didn't love each other? Was it just about... physical stuff?"

Faust smiled at Lambert’s straightforwardness.

"Lambert, we've known each other since we were kids. You've always been ahead of me at everything—school, business, even cooking. Whenever you put your mind to something, you nail it. I always thought you could do anything. But I guess that's not totally true."

Lambert looked at him, curious. "What do you mean?"

"When it comes to relationships, you're totally clueless. At least here, I've got some experience."

Lambert almost smiled at that, a hint of amusement showing on his face.

Faust went on, “Look, I’ve had a few girlfriends. You? You’ve got zero real-life experience, don’t you?”

Lambert shot him a look. "What, are you expecting a trophy for sleeping around? Is that really something to brag about?"

Faust burst out laughing, shaking his head.

When he caught his breath, he said, "It's not about bragging. It's just... fun. That feeling... you have to experience it yourself."

Faust raised his brows. "Hey, I sleep with women I like too, alright? But feelings change. You can't always help that."

Faust smirked. "And anyway, I’m rich enough. What’s wrong with having a couple of girlfriends? Compared to Owen, I’m practically a saint. Honestly, the way you are is the weird one."

Weird? Lambert thought back to that overwhelming rush on the yacht, to wanting her so badly he couldn’t control himself. He knew he wasn’t weird at all.

He just knew that only Camilla could make him feel like that.

Faust was supposed to have dinner with him, but he got a call and had to leave for something urgent.

Later that evening, Faust called him up. "Come out for a drink."

Lambert was in the middle of working out, sweat dripping down his face. "Not tonight," he said, grabbing a towel.

"I just saw Camilla."

Lambert stopped in his tracks, not even breathing for a second. "Text me the address," he replied, without missing a beat.
