Chapter 145 We Are Going Back to Trensea

Troy was completely at a loss for words.

If Ayla had shown even a little discomfort, he could have kept hanging around to get under her skin. But she truly didn’t care.

Now that she no longer cared, nothing he did would affect her anymore.

It would only make him look even more pathetic.

Ayla ignored him and decided to go out for a walk.

Just as she stood up, she saw Draven coming out of the elevator.

Behind him were Will, Shawn, and Winnie.

Draven saw Ayla, glanced at Troy, and then at the empty plates from breakfast.

Did they have breakfast together?

As soon as that thought hit him, Draven forced himself to stop overthinking.

Ayla noticed the stormy look on Draven’s face.

He looked upset, obviously because Troy was here.”

Ayla hadn’t felt guilty at all before, but seeing Draven’s face, she suddenly wondered if she’d done something wrong and made him unhappy.

As soon as that thought appeared, Ayla pushed it aside. She didn’t need to reflect or explain anything. Troy had shown up uninvited. It had nothing to do with her. She didn’t owe anyone, including Draven, an apology for Troy’s weird behavior.

Otherwise, she’d fall right back into her old habits of trying to please everyone.

Draven was good to her, and she treated him well in return-but there was a limit to it. Always trying to please someone, in any relationship, was just wrong.

Ayla didn’t bother with Troy’s gloomy look and walked up to Draven. “Mr. Storm, where are you going?”

Draven looked into Ayla’s eyes. He didn’t answer directly, but he glanced past her, staring at Troy from a

distance.

That look was ice-cold.

He looked like a predator guarding his territory-deadly serious.

It lasted just a second or two before Draven looked away. When he turned to Ayla again, his eyes showed nothing unusual.

His voice was cool and calm, just as always. “We are going back to Trensea.”

Ayla had been wondering what to do with her day, but now, she didn’t have to think about it.

Draven waited on the lobby couch while she packed her things. Aside from that single look earlier, he never glanced at Troy again.

Troy didn’t leave, either. He just stayed there in the restaurant, his expression looking grimmer than ever.

Other guests stayed as far as they could from the two men.

Shawn kept looking back and forth between Draven and Troy, over and over, feeling like the atmosphere between them was suffocating. He didn’t dare ask Draven anything, sensing it would spark trouble.

Shawn slid over to Will and whispered, “Are they always like this?”

Will said, “No.”

“Why not?”

“They hardly ever see each other.”

“So what’s with all this today? Is it because of Ms. Keaton?”

“No, not really.

“Mr. Storm doesn’t have any real feelings for Ayla. Even if it’s about her, it’s just because he’s worried Troy might hurt her.

“Ms. Keaton is an employee of Storm Group. Draven’s the type to protect his people, so he has to step up for her.”

Shawn was stunned.

Luke had come for revenge on his cruise, and it was clear Draven had pushed him out as the scapegoat.

As a friend, Shawn didn’t mind helping.

But the truth was, Draven didn’t even like those wild cruise parties, so if he came all this way, it had to be for Ayla.

If he didn’t care about her, he wouldn’t have brought her along himself.

If Draven didn’t like Ayla, then why go to such lengths?

Just because Ayla was his secretary, did he have to take care of her like this? It didn’t make sense.

Draven rarely showed interest in anyone. If he ever asked Shawn how he was doing, Shawn would probably cry from joy.

What the hell? After all these years as friends, I am actually less important than his secretary?
