Draven didn’t bother hiding what he really thought. He said each word slowly and clearly. “Troy, I’ll make sure you get an invitation to the wedding. Mine and Ayla’s.”
He didn’t wait to see how ugly Troy’s face got. Draven shoved him away, stepped back, and wiped the blood at the corner of his mouth with his thumb.
Troy’s punch had hit his jaw hard. The impact split the inside of his cheek. He could taste the sharp, heavy flavor of blood.
It had been a long time since Draven looked this beat-up. Strangely, he felt good.
He’d shown up today worried Troy wouldn’t cooperate with Ayla.
But the divorce went smoother than anyone expected.
Then he saw Troy snapping at Ayla. Draven almost tore him apart right there.
Deep inside, Draven carried a darkness he had spent years forcing down.
He had the self-control to cage that beast, but sometimes it broke through, like just now.
And honestly, he had wanted to hit Troy for a long time.
To Troy, Draven’s eyes were filled with pure contempt, as if Troy wasn’t even worth looking at. Troy had always treated people that way. Yet somehow, Draven was the only one who dared to throw it back at him.
Troy wanted to pound him into the ground, but he was done fighting for the moment.
What stunned him was this: Draven, never cared about anyone, but he actually cared about a woman.
And that woman was his wife.
Right then, Troy felt like Draven existed for one reason only-to ruin his life. He glared at Draven with a cold, hateful look. “You’ve been stealing from me since we were kids. You stole Grandpa’s attention. Dad’s praise. Made my mom think I had no good points because she kept comparing me to you. And now you’re after my woman. Draven, aren’t you just unbelievable?”
Draven stared at him and let out a short, icy laugh. “Ayla divorced you. She’s her own person. She isn’t yours. She isn’t something to steal. Not from you. Not from anyone.”
Troy snorted. “Yeah. Keep telling yourself that.”
The more Troy calmed down, the more Troy hated the man in front of him.
He couldn’t think of a single reason to ever get along with Draven. He’d never even tried. He never wanted
Troy shook his head like Draven was insane. “Do you even know how much Ayla loved me?” he said. “Do you know what she did for me all those years? If you knew—if you knew even a little-you’d understand

she could never love you. Not even if she’s divorced. You’re dreaming if you think you can compete with
me.”
Troy was confident because he lived those three years with Ayla. He never cared about her, but that didn’t mean he forgot how she used to look at him, how she used to treat him, and all those little moments she once gave him. He remembered them all.
During the divorce, Troy finally saw Ayla’s true nature. On the surface, she was stubborn and cold. But all her softness, all her warmth, she gave only to him.
Ayla had truly loved him.
Troy was absolutely certain of that. And that certainty was the blade he could use to make Draven miserable.
Sure enough, Draven’s jaw tightened. His calm, steady eyes wavered for the first time.
Troy saw that tiny crack in Draven’s expression, and a twisted thrill shot through him.
In his father’s eyes, Draven might have always been the better one. But even Draven had things he wanted and could never have.
And everything Draven wanted, Troy had once possessed.
But the next second, Draven looked at him with disgust. The same look he had always given him growing up. A look that made Troy feel like he was trash covered in something rotten.
This bastard who didn’t even belong in their family-what right did Draven have to look at him like that?
Troy gritted his teeth. The anger inside him burst like a flame he couldn’t put out.
But he couldn’t admit he was simply enraged by Draven’s disgusted stare. That would make him look unstable. It would make him look like the one losing.
So instead, Troy forced out a taunt. “You want to make a bet?”
Draven stared at him, cold and distant.
His eyes swept over Troy as if measuring something broken. Then he met Troy’s twisted gaze and said, voice sharp and disdainful, “You’re bragging about how well she treated you? A bastard like you, who only knows how to hurt people, doesn’t deserve her at all.”

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
