The driver made a loud movement.

Being stared at like that, the driver felt like he was about to die. “M-Mr. Bennett, are we heading back?”

Max seemed to snap back to reality at last. “Let’s go.”

After Conrad personally saw Ayla and her group out, he grabbed Rolf and went back to the private room.

“What were you arguing with me about just now” Conrad roared in anger. He’d been holding it in all night.

Rolf had already been feeling wronged the whole evening. His father didn’t understand him either, and his temper exploded instantly. His face flushed red as he talked back to Conrad. “What was I arguing about? Ayla’s a scheming woman. She’s useless and only climbs up by relying on men. Now she’s latched onto Draven. I look down on her. Why should I be nice to her?”

Conrad was so furious that he felt a heart attack coming on. He slapped Rolf hard across the face. “Draven’s judgment of people is always better than yours! If Ayla caught Draven’s eye, that means she’s far more capable than you! And you still dare look down on her and talk back to me?”

“I’m worse than Ayla?” Rolf was too angry to ever react to the slap!

“Just look at how awful you behaved tonight. Even the cleaning staff at the company is more capable than you!”

Every child wants their parents’ approval. Conrad’s words brought Rolf crushing humiliation. The pent-up frustration and anger sent his rage through the roof.

But he didn’t dare raise a hand against his father

He glared fiercely at Conrad, then at Lisa. Finally, he clenched his teeth and stormed out.

The door slammed shut with a thunderous bang

Conrad’s face had gone pale with anger.

Lisa chased after him, opened the door, and called out, “Rolf…”

Conrad roared, “Get back here! Leave him alone”

Lisa obediently stopped. She looked anxiously in the direction Rolf had left, though deep down, she felt nothing at all.

As a father, Conrad had given Lisa and Rolf the same education and training. But she knew he was still a traditional man. In the end, the entire Alvarado Group would be handed to Rolf.

Lisa becoming the CEO of the Alvarado Group was entirely due to her own ability.

Yet Conrad often hinted, intentionally or not, that she should support Rolf more, put in more effort, and help improve his personal capabilities.

Lisa had always been obedient, placing herself in a supporting role. She did it willingly.

But at the dinner tonight, Rolf had given her no respect at all. Even though they were siblings, it didn’t mean they were close. If Rolf could be this cold to her now, then once he truly took control of the Alvarado Group, there was no guarantee he’d tolerate her existence.

So Lisa quietly made a decision. From now on, the Alvarados would stay firmly in her hands.

A woman should fight and take what she wants.

A hint of sharpness flashed in Lisa’s gentle eyes, then vanished just as quickly.

Ayla, Halle…

It might be time to make some new friends.

Rolf left seething with anger and blamed it all on Ayla. He wanted to complain to Troy about this. He called Troy and exaggerated everything from start to finish.

Troy was still having dinner with Skyla and Howard. When he took the call, his grip tightened around his wineglass.

Howard noticed. “What’s wrong?”

“I got it.” Troy hung up and stood up to leave.

Skyla couldn’t help frowning.

Am I being too sensitive?

He used to watch over me during meals, so caring and attentive. But why does he act like we’re strangers now? He’s growing colder by the minute, not even sparing me a glance. Skyla felt a sense of crisis creeping in.

Howard also felt Troy had changed a lot. “Skyla, while I was away, what exactly happened to Troy?”

Skyla snapped back to herself, hesitating. “I don know if I should say it.”
