Isabella thought that Ayla was just Troy’s live-in helper, someone who used to bring packed lunches to the office.

Troy didn’t reveal much, so Isabella tracked down Nadia, who had resigned almost a month ago. Nadia had once spoken with Ayla on the phone and was later caught red-handed by Jed.

Isabella thought back to Troy’s strange behavior a week ago and reached a conclusion. Troy and Ayla were already divorced.

“Mr. Winston, I couldn’t find any direct link between Ayla and Sol. But Ayla is definitely connected to racing. I gathered all available footage from Sol’s races, along with any surviving track surveillance. Ayla appeared at Sol’s races, more than once.”

Troy frowned. “That’s it?”

Isabella couldn’t help getting nervous. “Yes. From the surveillance footage, we only managed to extract blurry images. I’ve sent you all the race videos and the photos we obtained.”

Troy replied with a hum.

Isabella finally let out a breath. At least she had something to report.

Even if it didn’t fully satisfy Troy, there was still the next task.

She was sure she would handle that one even better.

Troy received the videos Isabella sent. He’d just opened one when Howard came out and leaned over to take a look, surprised. “Troy, since when are you into racing?” Howard tugged at him. “Skyla’s a racer. Why don’t you ask her?”

Only then did Troy remember.

He’d personally gone to watch Skyla race, yet he hadn’t thought of her at all.

When Skyla heard the name Sol, she lifted her chin slightly. “I fell in love with racing after watching Sol compete. That’s when I started learning.”

Howard couldn’t help praising her. “Skyla, that’s amazing.” He genuinely felt she was different from most women and was talented in so many ways.

Skyla noticed how good Howard was at giving emotional validation. That was actually the real reason she’d learned racing. She’d stumbled across Sol’s race by chance and had never imagined a woman could look that cool on the tack. Everyone liked her, men and women alike. Skyla wanted to become that kind of person-someone everyone liked, someone different from other women.

“Have you ever met Sol in person?” Troy asked.

Skyla looked regretful, then her eyes filled with anticipation. “No. If I ever did, I’d probably be so excited I wouldn’t be able to speak.”

Howard laughed in curiosity. “Didn’t expect you to have this side, Skyla.”

“She’s my idol, after all.”
