She knew this handsome, striking face all too well. Anyone seeing him for the first time would be stunned by his looks. But to Ayla now, Troy was like the tea she’d made last night. It made her sick.

Ayla clenched her fists. All the anger she’d built up on the way exploded at once. Under his indifferent gaze, her voice turned icy. “Troy, if you have a problem, take it up with me! But if you dare hurt Halle, I swear I won’t let this go!”

To Troy, Ayla’s threat sounded weightless. He didn’t care at all.

The corner of his mouth twitched. He even had the mood to say something irrelevant. “Why are you standing there? Come in.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Ayla spotted a camera down the hall.

He probably noticed it too.

“Where’s Halle?” Ayla had no interest in wasting words with him.

That attitude seemed to provoke Troy. He grabbed her wrist and tried to drag her inside.

Ayla felt sick. Annoyed. She shook him off hard and stepped back. “Troy, I don’t want to waste my breath on you! Where is Halle?”

When Ayla arrived, she’d already tried contacting Halle’s assistant, Louisa.

But she couldn’t reach her at all.

Troy was clearly unstable right now. There was no telling what he might do.

She only wanted to know that Halle was safe.

Troy felt like he’d gone crazy. He couldn’t accept that Ayla cared this much about another

woman.

So now even a woman ranks above me, huh?

Troy sneered, “If you were a little more patient with me, maybe I’d tell you.”

Ayla hated Troy’s threats. She was forcing hersel to hold back. If she opened her mouth again, she’d probably start swearing.

But Troy loved her stubborn, silent resistance. He stepped aside. “Come in.”

Ayla looked at the empty room. There was no one else inside. She didn’t want to be alone with Troy. She only cared about Halle. “I have nothing to say to you. Where exactly is Halle?”

Seeing her guard up, Troy’s eyes turned cold. His voice dropped, edged with anger. “You won’t even stay in the same room with me anymore?”

“You’re a psycho. I’m afraid you’ll pull something.”

Troy laughed in anger. The fury in his chest surged so violently that he even felt pain. Just like before, when he’d been so angry his heart physically ached. That discomfort was coming more often now. Stronger each time.

All it took was one look from Ayla.

Troy forced himself to endure it. His voice turned mocking, dripping with contempt. “If I really wanted to do something to you, I would’ve done it back at the house. Don’t worry. I’m not interested in your body!”

Ayla snapped back in disgust. “Weren’t you trying to kiss me before?”

Troy’s voice sank lower. “That was because you kissed someone you shouldn’t have. I was punishing you! You really think I’m interested in you?”

The arrogance in that statement was off the charts.

Ayla didn’t care about Troy anymore. She almost wanted to punch him. Words could wound, and so could a look. She even wondered if she owed Troy something from a past life.

“I divorced you! Even if I marry another man right now, it has nothing to do with you! Do you understand?”

Troy was already immune. Ayla’s anger and resentment didn’t faze him at all. “You don’t need to remind me.”

Troy said, “I have something to ask you. If you don’t give me a clear answer, don’t even think about seeing Halle.”

Ayla’s hand at her side clenched into a fist, then posened, then clenched again. Her cool eyes erupted with a sharp, biting chill.

Troy meant it.

She ground her teeth. “Ask.”

“You should’ve been obedient earlier,” Troy said coldly. But the truth was, he liked her
