Chapter 262 Hypocritical
Chapter 262 Hypocritical
Ayla wasn’t afraid anymore.
But the moment Troy found out, he made his move.
Ayla clenched her hand. “Yeah. So what?”
“You care that much about Skyla?” Troy asked.
He asked like that because he thought she was jealous, then pushed Halle to act.
Troy was trying to figure out who the mastermind was.

But Ayla couldn’t understand why Troy kept asking the same thing over and over again.
We are divorced. Do I still have to prove how much I loved him back then?
In the end, it’s still about his own thrill. He just wants to see me love him so much that I lose myself. Only then will he feel good.
Each of Troy’s questions stabbed straight into her scars, tearing them open.
He was forcing her to show the bloody mess to the very person who’d hurt her!
Ayla completely lost control. She ground her teeth, her eyes full of hatred and fury. “Troy, you really know how to grind people down!”
The look on her face reminded Troy of the day they got the divorce certificate.
Her accusations, her anger, even that faint hint of grievance…
A strange thrill rose in Troy’s chest.
Ayla’s breakdown proves one thing. She’s still in love with me. That’s why she was jealous.
That answer instantly calmed Troy’s chaotic heat.
Eagerly, he pressed on, “So you let Halle embarrass Skyla because you were jealous?”
“Yes! I was jealous!” Ayla snapped. “We weren’t even divorced yet. You treated another woman that well. What was I supposed to think? Why couldn’t I be jealous?”
At the time, Ayla hadn’t even known. Halle had done it first, then told her.

turn on her.
Ayla had to take it on herself. She had to lie.

If you love someone, you naturally can’t accept them crossing boundaries with another
woman.
So every word Ayla said came straight from the heart!
She was only saying it after the divorce. Even if i was meaningless now.
But saying it out loud felt better than she’d expected.
Troy got a clear answer, one he wanted to hear. He finally calmed down.
Yet at the same time, the disgust in Ayla’s eyes made him panic like never before.
His heart tightened. He clenched his teeth before asking, “Why didn’t you tell me back then?”
“Would it have mattered if I did?”
“How could it not matter? You never said anything. How was I supposed to know what you were thinking? Maybe I would’ve-”
Deep inside Ayla was a scar so deep she’d never wanted to touch it. But Troy’s relentless questioning shattered her restraint. She hurt him but wounded herself worse. Every word came out soaked in blood. “Troy, do you remember the baby we lost?”
Boom!
Lightning flashed through Troy’s mind. His face went instantly pale as he froze in place.
Ayla broke down crying. “When the baby was gone, where were you?”
Troy’s lips moved. Watching Ayla cry uncontrollably felt like a brutal blow to his heart.
“I thought-”

“You thought what? Give me a break!” Ayla shouted. “You didn’t even care about our child. Why would you care whether I hated Skyla or not?”
It felt like Troy’s heart was being torn apart.
At that moment, he couldn’t bring himself to meet her eyes.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
