“Time to eat. Meryll’s got everything ready.” Kaleb didn’t bother with Draven. He spoke to Ayla, then pulled her along.

The “poor” Draven, a guest in the house, could only follow silently.

Meryll made a lavish spread, and every dish looked appetizing. The fish chowder was simmered until the broth turned rich and milky.

As usual, Meryll set aside a small portion of each dish and ate in the kitchen.

Ayla’s dining table was huge. You could sit anywhere.

Kaleb rushed to grab the seat next to Ayla first. Ayla and Draven ended up sitting across from each other, with the table between them.

Kaleb’s earlier self-reflection led to one conclusion. He needed to treat Ayla better. Even though having Draven here was kind of nauseating, he didn’t have the energy to throw a tantrum. If he didn’t want to look at Draven, he simply wouldn’t.

Kaleb took the initiative to put food on Ayla’s plate, still sounding annoyed. “Eat more. Look at how skinny you are. One punch from Bria’s bodyguard, and you’d end up in the ICU.”

Kaleb was thinking about taking Ayla to learn boxing. She was busy, so she might not go. But Kaleb had already decided to train himself. At least when Ayla needed him, he could take a few hits and not be a total dead weight.

Plus, all the 30-something programmers at his company were either balding, out of shape, or greasy- looking. It gave Kaleb a serious sense of crisis. If he didn’t start training now, bald head and beer belly would be his future.

“Bria?” Draven looked at Ayla, basically asking why she hadn’t called him.

“Don’t ask, Mr. Storm. It’s none of your business.” Kaleb grabbed a big lobster. “I’m talking to my sister. Why are you so nosy?”

Ayla shot Kaleb a look. “Can’t you just eat?”

Kaleb snapped off the head, carefully stripped all the meat, and put it in front of Ayla. “I am eating. Who’s gonna dig out meat for you if I don’t?”

Ayla looked at the lobster meat, paused, then smiled at him. “Did the sun rise in the west today?”

Kaleb rolled his eyes. “Look at you, acting as if you’ve never seen this before. Fine. I’ll do it for you all the time. Happy?”

Ayla was honestly torn. Half the time, she wanted to smack Kaleb. The other half, he did things that warmed her heart.

She ate the lobster without hesitation.

Kaleb was doing this because he wanted to, not to show off. But since Draven was there, he couldn’t resist. “Mr. Storm, you’ve probably never touched any kitchen work. This kind of thing must be beyond you.”

Ayla smacked his arm. “What are you doing?”

“I’m just chatting with Mr. Storm. What’s wrong with that?” Kaleb looked at her. “Stop micromanaging me

and cat.”

Draven said nothing. He put on gloves, peeled five shrimp, and placed them in front of Ayla. “Eat.”

He was so smooth at it, like he’d done it thousands of times.

Ayla had already eaten fish that Draven had deboned for her before. She felt completely at ease picking up the shrimp and cating it.

Kaleb was genuinely stunned by the sight. No matter how wild his imagination was, he’d never imagined Draven peeling shrimp for his sister

Is Draven just putting on a show to win Ayla over?

Draven is really pulling out all the stops to pursue Ayla!

Seeing Ayla cat three pieces, Kaleb snatched the remaining two and shoved them into his own mouth.

Ayla and Draven were struck speechless by this scene.

Draven silently glanced at Kaleb and kept peeling shrimp.

Kaleb thought, If Draven keeps showing off in front of me, I’ll eat every single shrimp he peels.

Kaleb didn’t just sit there either. He decided to peel shrimp for Ayla himself.

Draven had already peeled five. Kaleb was about to speed up when Draven put all five shrimp in front of him instead.

“Eat.” Draven looked at him.

Kaleb’s hands froze. He stared at Draven in shock.

Draven’s face was calm. There was no extra expression or provocation in his eyes. He just peeled shrimp and casually gave them to him.

Is Draven… taking care of me?

Kaleb’s mind went blank, completely stunned by the gesture.

Draven couldn’t ignore Kaleb’s stare anymore. He frowned. “Why are you looking at me?”

Kaleb had always treated Draven as an enemy. In his head, he’d imagined countless ways Draven could die.
