Chapter 290 Preparing for the Move

Chapter 290 Preparing for the Move

No matter what he said or did, he could never stand his ground in front of Ayla and Draven.

Draven was the worst-he even peeled shrimp for him.

Kaleb felt awkward for a moment, like a kid on his first day of school with an older brother hovering after him.

He hated that feeling. He was already twenty years old, a full-grown guy standing over six feet tall!

Did I really need someone to feed me?

Then Kaleb thought about Draven’s strong, grown-man build. He turned to the side and looked at himself in the mirror.

Next to Draven, his arms and shoulders looked skinny, still carrying a bit of a teenage feel. With one glance, he just didn’t seem reliable at all.

He silently made up his mind to work out seriously. He would increase his workout time from 30 minutes a day to a full hour, focus more on his arms, and broaden his shoulders. Maybe then he would look more confident and dependable.

He might not like Draven, but they were both men, and men naturally want to compete. That natural sense of competition made him feel a real sense of danger.

If it were Emmett, Kaleb wouldn’t care at all.

But the distance between him and Draven was too big. Even Draven’s friends-people like Herman-were far ahead of him. No wonder Ayla never listened to him and treated him like a child. He didn’t look trustworthy enough.

He knew he couldn’t change everything in one night. But he also knew he wouldn’t give up. He clenched his teeth and decided to push harder.

Oh, right. I would start boxing too!

They had decided to move in together for the weekend. Ayla had already told Meryll to clean the room next to the main bedroom, inside and out.

Since the move helped their fake relationship plan, Ayla sent Meryll home for now.

After dinner was finished and the kitchen was cleaned up, only Ayla and Draven were left in the house.

They had the whole afternoon to move things.

Ayla guided Draven to the room she had prepared for him.

“Mr. Storm, you can put your things here.” Living together was only for appearances.

Once the door was shut, they would not be sleeping in the same bed.

Draven replied, “Okay.”

Ayla looked at him. “Let’s go get your things from your place.”

He nodded in agreement.

Ayla walked into Draven’s walk-in closet and froze. Inside were neat rows of expensive suits, shirts, ties, casual clothes, and a large display case full of luxury watches.

A 20-million-dollar Patek Philippe sat quietly inside.

The entire closet showed pure wealth.

Draven clearly grew up rich and had never lived a hard life.

Ayla felt uneasy. “Mr. Storm, sorry you have to stay in my guest room-it’s not as nice as this. Good thing your mom hasn’t arrived yet. You can still sleep here for now. Today is only for acting.”

If Draven really moved in, he would have to put up with some discomfort. But Ayla would not leave her own home to live in someone else’s, so she needed a solution.

Draven stopped her. “It’s fine. I’m moving in today. I’ll be staying at your place from now on.”

Ayla stared. “Today?”

Draven explained, “My grandpa’s birthday is coming soon. My mom could show up anytime. I should get used to your place early.”

That made sense. Living together took time to adjust to, so Ayla didn’t argue. Fine.

“Let’s pack the clothes first.” Ayla reached out to help, but Draven caught her wrist. Warmth spread from his hand.

“You decide what to bring. I’ll carry everything,” he said.

Ayla looked at him. “Are you sure you can manage all this?”

“Looks like you don’t know me very well,” Draven replied. He had taken care of himself since he was

young.

Ayla had no answer.

He released her hand. “I’ll change into something comfortable.”

“Alright. I’ll wait in the living room.”

He came back a short while later. The nice casual clothes he wore before were gone, and he now had on a gray sports outfit. His face still looked sharp and clean, and even in plain workout clothes, he was unfairly good-looking. Compared to wearing suits, he seemed much more relaxed and normal.

He was tall as well, and for just a moment, he looked a bit younger.

Ayla stared at him without thinking.
