Chapter 220 You Have a Boyfriend?
Was this just a coincidence? Or something else?
She instinctively turned to look at Lara.
Lara looked just as surprised.
Both women watched as Sebastian and Shawn made their
way toward them. The crowd of women trickling out of the theater began to take notice too.
It wasn’t hard to see why–they were both head–turners. One carried a cold, indifferent presence, the other radiated calm elegance.
If Sebastian didn’t have that “stay away” aura around him, women might’ve already rushed over to ask for his number.
Lara cleared her throat and leaned toward Riley. “Well, since Sebastian’s here to pick you up, I’ll make myself scarce.”
Riley knew Lara and Shawn had a history. All she’d ever been told was that Lara had once really liked him. They’d dated for a year, then suddenly broke up.
When Riley asked why, Lara just brushed it off with a laugh and said, “We weren’t right for each other. No one expects to:05 fall in love once and stay there forever anymore.”
After that, Lara seemed more carefree than ever–pouring herself into work, launching her business, chasing celebrity crushes, and admiring good–looking men like it was a sport.
It was almost as if that year with Shawn never happened.
But she never spoke of him again. Whenever they ran into mutual friends like Vince, Lara would always make sure to steer clear of Shawn entirely.
Riley sometimes wondered whether she was really over him.
Before Lara could take another step, Shawn’s voice rang out, annoyed. “What, you see me and suddenly you’re leaving?”
Lara gave a dry chuckle and straightened up. “Since Mr. Torres came all this way to pick Riley up, of course I’m leaving. What else do you expect me to do—stick around and be the third wheel?”
Shawn pressed his lips into a thin line.
Sebastian turned to Riley. “Let’s go.”
Riley hesitated and looked toward Lara. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

Lara waved a hand like it was nothing. “Just go. I do have a few 277
things to say to Mr. Morris here.”
Riley grabbed her arm and lowered her voice. “Are you really okay?”
Lara shrugged. “Shawn’s not some monster, Riley. He’s not going to eat me alive. I’m serious. I have something to say to him, and you two being here would just make it awkward.”
Riley gave her one last look, then nodded. “Alright. I’ll go then.”
As Riley left with Sebastian, Lara turned to face Shawn. She smiled lightly, “Allow me to flatter myself for a moment, Mr. Morris, you came here to see me?”
Shawn’s jaw tightened slightly.
He ran into Sebastian earlier at a business event.
When Sebastian called Riley, Lara’s voice came through the phone—clear enough that even he could hear her.
All that talk about hot guys and muscles and close contact… it put him in a foul mood almost instantly.
Was she really so obsessed with ogling other men?

She was his ex. They had broken up years ago. He should be
over her. He was over her. So why had he ended up following Sebastian’s car here?
“If I said I came here just to see you, what would you do?” he countered instead of answering.
Lara arched a brow. “What, are you still not over me after all these years?”
His eyes narrowed.
Not over her? Not a chance.
Back then, their relationship only happened because she had chased him with unwavering persistence.
He’d said yes in the end—not out of love, but out of sheer exhaustion.
And during the relationship, everything she showed him- every look, every word—made it seem like she loved him deeply. But it wasn’t until they broke up that he realized just how much of a fool he’d been.
She ended it without the slightest hesitation, not a trace of reluctance or regret. It was as if she’d simply grown tired of playing with him.

“Lara,” he said coldly, “do you really think that’s possible?”

“Then why are you here?” she shot back.
He stared at her in silence, frustration simmering just beneath the surface. He didn’t even know the answer himself.
Finally, after a long pause, he asked, “Did you really get tired of me?”
