Chapter 304 Break In
Riley thought about it. DNA testing was the most direct way, but if she went with hair, she’d need to pull out three to five strands with the roots still attached using tweezers, and she’d have to make sure the sample didn’t get contaminated.
A blood draw would be even more obvious.
Like Sebastian said, unless Zane agreed to it willingly or they drugged him first…
No, wait…
“I could just strip him,” Riley said suddenly.
“Strip him?” Vince blinked.
Sebastian caught on immediately. “You want to check if he has a scar on his shoulder?”
“Yeah.” Riley nodded. “If he’s Samuel, then even if he really has amnesia, the scar would still be there.”
That scar–Samuel had gotten it protecting her.
And it was a wound that still hurt her heart.
Meanwhile, Zane sat on the hotel lounge sofa, looking lownat3

the handkerchief in his hand.
He’d used it to wipe Riley’s tears earlier, and the fabric still had damp spots.
His fingers traced over the stains, and something heavy settled in his chest for no reason he could name.
“Zane, you wiped that woman’s face with that handkerchief. It’s disgusting. Just throw it away later,” Cynthia said.
“That won’t be necessary,” Zane said flatly.
“What do you mean it’s not necessary? Women like her who throw themselves at every man they see? She’s filthy. I have no idea what Sebastian’s thinking, dating someone like that,” Cynthia muttered.
“Cynthia, I’m the one who wiped her tears. And like I said before, she’s not that kind of woman,” Zane said.
Riley’s look at him wasn’t like the other women’s attempts to catch his attention; it was more like she was looking at someone she missed deeply, someone she loved–pure, intense.
Was she seeing me but thinking of someone else? Someone who looked like me?
She’d said I resembled someone she knew. So who was that 2/6

person to her?
The moment the thought crossed his mind, a sharp pain lanced through his head. He raised his hand to his temple.
“Zane, is it your headache again?” Cynthia asked.
“Yeah,” Zane said.
“Let’s head back to the hotel so you can take your medicine. We’re going home in a week anyway, and you can see Dr. Reid then.”
Zane nodded.
Once they got back to the hotel, Cynthia dug out the medication and shook two pills into her hand for him. Zane swallowed them down with water.
“Cynthia,” he said suddenly. “That accident three years ago… is there really nothing left? Nothing about me at all?”
“If there was anything left, don’t you think I would’ve given it to you by now?” Cynthia said. “But even if you lost everything, you don’t need to worry. You’re Zane. You’re my brother. And I’m your only sister.”
“Yeah,” he murmured, closing his eyes. “You’re my only sister.”

But the image that flashed through his mind was Riley, tears streaming down her face.
Ye Ye Y Y Y
That night, Zane lay in bed, unable to settle into sleep.
Fire… There was fire everywhere, so hot it felt like his whole body was burning alive.
But I couldn’t die. Not here. Not like this.
There’s someone I have to see, someone I have have to survive. No matter what, I have to live…
tect. I
Suddenly, instinct kicked in, and Zane’s eyes snapped open.
Someone was in his room without turning on the light. So it wasn’t Cynthia.
Then who is it?
As the figure crept closer to the bed, Zane launched himself up and lunged at them.
The intruder threw up their hands to block. “Mr. Lincoln, it’s me! Riley!” a woman’s voice called out in the darkness.
Zane pulled back immediately. “Riley? Ms. Anderson?” 4/6

“Yes.”
The lights came on.
Zane stared at Riley and frowned. “You break into my room in the middle of the night, and you don’t think you owe me an explanation?”
“Of course I do.” But when Riley saw how pale he was, she stopped. “What’s wrong? You look terrible.”
He was pale as a sheet.
“It’s nothing. Just had a nightmare,” Zane said. Now don’t you think you should explain what you’re doing here?”
Riley pressed her lips together and pulled out a stack of photos. She held them out to him. “These are photos of my brother.”
Zane looked confused. “Why are you showing me pictures of your brother?”
“Just look at them.”
Zane took the photos, and when he saw the person in them, his expression shifted. He flipped through them one by one until he’d seen them all.

“So when you said you knew someone who looked just like me… it was your brother?”
“Yes,” Riley said. “Actually, I’m wondering if you and my brother are the same person. Mr. Lincoln, have you ever lost your memory?”
There’d been too many people at the gala earlier to ask something like this. That was why she’d risked sneaking into his hotel room in the middle of the night and hacking the security system to get in.
Zane’s voice was flat. “What if I said no?”
