Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 33

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 33: All Gathered**

**Lucky Draw**

The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, as Amanda and her accomplices had seemingly succeeded in drawing Riley away from her usual haunts.

Riley had set her sights on a staggering hundred million dollars, but the path to that fortune was fraught with peril. She was not only facing the possibility of failing to secure the money, but also the risk of shattering her reputation into a million irretrievable pieces. If that were to happen, even if Bryce had any lingering affection for her, he would be forced to proceed with the divorce, leaving her utterly alone.

In the dimly lit shadows of the twelfth floor, Amanda and Claire exchanged anxious glances, their hearts racing with each passing moment.

“Where the hell is Riley? It’s been half an hour already! Do you think she’s pulling a fast one on us and won’t show?” Claire’s voice was laced with tension, her fingers tapping nervously against her thigh. They had meticulously prepared everything for this moment, and the thought of it falling apart was unbearable.

“Relax, she’ll come. As long as that hundred million is still on her mind, she has no choice but to show up,” Amanda replied, her tone dripping with confidence. She had seen the desperation in Riley’s eyes before, and she knew it would drive her to this meeting.

In Amanda’s mind, a woman like Riley was nothing more than an illusion, a facade without any real talents or skills to back her ambitions.

Just as Amanda’s thoughts began to spiral, a figure emerged in the hallway. It was Riley. Both Amanda and Claire felt a wave of satisfaction wash over them as they caught sight of her.

However, the moment Claire laid eyes on Riley, dressed in a stunning evening gown that clung to her in all the right places, a surge of jealousy bubbled within her. Riley looked like she had stepped straight out of a high-society gala, radiating elegance and confidence.

Claire scoffed internally, her thoughts sharp and bitter. High society lady, my foot! The more radiant Riley appeared now, the more devastating her downfall would be. The image of Riley’s impending humiliation brought a wicked smile to Claire’s lips as she watched her use her key card to unlock the door and step into the room.

Perfect. The mission was unfolding just as she had envisioned. Claire could hardly wait to witness Riley’s desperate pleas, which would finally serve as a balm for all the embarrassment Claire had endured at the company lately.

After all, she was Bryce’s sister, a top graduate, and yet she had felt the sting of being belittled while Riley had basked in the limelight.

The project had faltered during Riley’s tenure, and the way her colleagues looked at Claire made it painfully clear—they believed she was not worthy of the success they attributed to Riley.
