Chapter 384 A Flawless Lie

“Regret being alive?” Cynthia laughed. “Do you really think you have the nerve? If you touch me, I’ll kill myself. Then your precious Lina can die with me. Samuel, if you want Lina to live, you have no choice but to listen to me.”

“You-” Samuel glared at her, his eyes bloodshot. His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles cracked.

Just as Cynthia was basking in her triumph, Riley’s voice rang out behind them. “Cynthia, you are not going to die,” Riley said evenly. “But you will spend the rest of your life in prison.”

“What?” Cynthia froze.

Supported by Lara and leaning on her crutches, Riley made her way to Samuel’s side. “Samuel, do not bail her out,” Riley said firmly. “She lied. Her match with Lina never succeeded. She

cannot save Lina.”

“What?” Samuel stared at her in shock. “Riley, are you sure?”

“At least according to the investigation report Sebastian gave me,” Riley replied, handing the file to Samuel.

Samuel flipped through the report. If it really came from Sebastian, then the chances of it being fake were almost nonexistent.

shown him a hospital compatibility report.

He had never verified it himself.

All he cared about was Lina surviving. In his desperation, he had ignored Cynthia’s character and failed to investigate whether it was true.

“Cynthia,” Samuel said hoarsely, his eyes burning as he stared at

her. “You lied to me?”

Cynthia’s face had already drained of all color. She had never imagined Riley would expose what she believed was a flawless lie.

She thought fooling Samuel was enough.

After all, Lina’s life only mattered to him.

And Lina was all the way in Russia. They were in the United

States now.

Yet Sebastian had somehow managed to match Lina in Russia with her in the United States. When had that happened? She had no memory of it at all.

“And you’re calling me a liar based on one piece of paper?” Cynthia forced herself to argue, fighting the panic rising in her ghest. “Lina is in Russia. How could she possibly be matched0:16

Because if she wasn’t… what would happen to Lina?

Was there really enough time left to find a successful match and a suitable donor?

“Honestly, if we want to know whether Cynthia really is a

“That won’t be necessary,” Riley said. “All we need is a blood sample from you. We can rush it to a high–resolution b for precise HI A confirmation If you truly ara a match you will going any longer. “Riley, why didn’t you just die? If you had, everything would have been perfect.”

The last bit of hope in Samuel’s eyes vanished.

The moment Cynthia said that, he knew it. Everything she had told him before was a lie.

“Cynthia,” Samuel snarled, “you’re the one who deserves to die.” He suddenly reached out and clamped his hand around her neck. Even the nearby officers were startled.

They rushed forward, trying to pull him back.

But Samuel’s grip was iron–tight. They could not pry his hand loose.

His eyes were bloodshot as he stared straight at her. “You should die. If it weren’t for you—”

If not for her, he would never have tried to protect her and ended up getting Riley shot. Riley would never have risked her life in the fire to drag her out, nearly dying in the process. 20:16

Now that so–called hope had turned out to be nothing but an illusion. Samuel could not even bear to imagine the despair Lina would feel when she learned the truth.

All of it had come from one lie.

Cynthia struggled for breath, her face turning red as she clawed desperately at Samuel’s fingers. No matter how hard she tried, she could not move his hand even an inch.
