“I might be really busy these days and won’t have much time to spend with you. Don’t overthink it. Once things calm down, I’ll make it up to you. We’ll reschedule the engagement soon too.

“We should have been preparing for it by now. But you know what happened. I never wanted to drag you into this mess, but I had no choice.”

As long as they communicated openly, Quinn would understand. She knew he had nothing to do with Wendy.

“I think it’s weird too,” Quinn agreed. “There shouldn’t have been many people around that late at night. If it had been during the day, it might make sense. But why did this have to happen right before our engagement?”

It felt like someone was deliberately targeting them. These were questions they needed to answer.

Quinn fully supported his investigation. After chatting for a while, they cleared up all misunderstandings. There had never been any deep rift between them-just occasional moments of unease.
