“It’s fine. You’ll be working with these people more in the future,” Quinn said, giving her a reassuring look. “You can’t expect me to tag along every time. Think of this as a chance to practice. Go with them.”

“Making more connections in this industry will do you good,” she added firmly.

Then she turned to Leo. “Leo, I’m leaving my assistant in your hands. You better take good care of her- otherwise, I won’t hesitate to give you an earful.” She meant every word, no trace of a joke in her tone.

“Don’t worry. She’s your person-I’d never slack off,” Leo promised. He turned to the group. “Alright, everyone’s worked hard today. Let’s head out for dinner and drinks to unwind.”

Leo spoke with conviction. Whatever Quinn asked of him, he’d do it without question. Her words were like orders to him.

Quinn felt relieved leaving Mia with Leo. She knew he’d treat her well. Leo was a reliable guy, and this was the perfect opportunity for him and Mia to get closer. She wasn’t about to let it go to waste.

Mia always claimed she’d given up on Leo, but Quinn could tell she still had feelings for him. The longer time passed, the deeper those feelings seemed to grow.

Quinn had been swamped lately, barely able to handle her own problems, let alone play matchmaker. She hadn’t had a chance to talk to either of them properly, but she was determined to create opportunities for them. No matter if things worked out between them in the end, she wanted to do everything she could to help.

Mia’s heart raced with nervousness. Without Quinn by her side, she felt lost. As a young woman, dining alóne with a group of men made her feel self-conscious and awkward.

“Mia, does Miss Hart treat you well?” Leo asked, breaking the silence.

He’d noticed how loyal Mia was to Quinn. Relationships like that were mutual. Quinn must have been good to her for her to be so dedicated.

“Absolutely! Miss Hart has always been amazing to me,” Mia gushed, her eyes lighting up. “I’ve been working with her ever since she was at her old company. She’s always looked out for me and watched me grow.”

Talking about Quinn filled Mia with excitement. Quinn was like an idol to her, someone she admired deeply. That’s why she’d stuck by her so faithfully-Quinn was worth it.

Leo nodded, a soft look of concern crossing his face. He hated seeing how hard Quinn worked, how she pushed herself even when life got tough. He never wanted her to feel like she had to carry the world on her

shoulders.

Patents and this industry weren’t his original focus. But he’d delved into these projects just for her. Everything he did now was for Quinn.

“Quinn’s a great person. She’ll recognize your hard work and never let you down,” Leo said firmly. “Her studio’s small now, but I’m sure it’ll grow bigger and better soon enough.”

“Definitely! Miss Hart is incredibly talented,” Mia agreed eagerly. “Back at her old company, she was in charge of everything. And her ex-boyfriend was totally unreliable.”

“She used to work herself to the bone, managing the company and handling her patents all at once,” she added, her voice tinged with frustration. She cared deeply about Quinn and still remembered all the hardships she’d endured.

Sympathy flooded Leo’s eyes. He and Quinn had drifted apart years ago, all because Felix had thrown fits every time Leo was around, accusing him of overstepping. To spare Quinn from further trouble, Leo had stepped back from their friendship.

He’d had no idea what was going on at her company after that, no idea she’d suffered so much alone.

“Thank you for sticking by her,” Leo said sincerely. “She’s going through a tough time right now. You two need to hold on. Things will get better soon, I promise.”

“Come on, let’s join the others for dinner. They’re all top experts in the project field. You can learn a lot. from them. If you ever have questions later, they’ll be happy to help. It’ll be great for your career,” he added, his tone calm and steady.

To Mia, though, his words sounded gentle and kind. This was the first time they’d talked face-to-face so calmly. It felt like a good start. And he looked so handsome when he was serious. Her heart skipped a beat.
