Chapter 145 It’s Nothing Major
But she forced herself to stay calm. She couldn’t let her feelings show in front of him.
Mia tiptoed behind Leo, her heart pounding uncontrollably in her chest.

Meanwhile, after leaving Leo’s office, Quinn headed straight home. To her surprise, Peyton arrived back shortly after.
“Aren’t you at the hospital taking care of your grandma?” Quinn asked, concern lacing her voice. She hated the thought of leaving Iris alone..
“Mom’s there. She insisted I come back to be with you,” Peyton explained. “Grandma’s doing much better now. All her vital signs are back to normal. No need to worry.”
Peyton had actually arranged for someone to keep an eye on Iris. If anything happened, he’d be notified immediately. So even though he wasn’t at the hospital, he felt at ease.
“That’s a relief,” Quinn said, letting out a breath.
With Eleanor by Iris’ side, everything will be fine.
“How’s work going with your projects?” Peyton asked softly.
“All sorted out. Don’t worry-everything’s stable now,” Quinn replied confidently. “Once these two projects are done, I’ll start working on new patents to grow my studio.”
She felt hopeful about her work, fully prepared to see it through no matter what.
“I support you,” Peyton said gently.
But Quinn could sense his exhaustion the moment he walked in. It was clear things at his company hadn’t been going smoothly. He never looked like this on a normal day.
“How about your company? Are you still dealing with a lot of trouble?” she couldn’t help but ask.
“Don’t worry about me. It’s been a big shake-up, and our stock’s been dropping, but I’ve got a plan to fix it,” Peyton said, downplaying the situation. “It’s nothing major. We’ll get through it soon.”
He didn’t want to burden her with his problems. The truth was, the company was in bad shape. Several ongoing projects had fallen through.
Trust in him had waned. After the engagement fiasco, many thought his judgment was flawed.
Peyton only told her the surface issues. The company was actually facing a serious crisis, and their partners
had lost faith in them.
“I wish I could help somehow, but I know there’s not much I can do,” Quinn said, her voice filled with worry. She felt partly responsible for all this.
“Just focus on taking care of yourself,” Peyton said, reaching out to squeeze her hand. “I don’t want you

working too hard. Make sure to take time to relax.” He hated seeing her push herself.

Quinn was naturally stubborn, always trying to handle everything on her own. She hated asking for help unless she had no other choice.
“I know,” Quinn said, giving him a small smile.
They had dinner together-something they hadn’t done alone in a long time. It had been ages since they’d sat down and talked calmly like this.
For some reason, she occasionally felt a strange distance between them, like they were just going through the motions of living together.
“Miss Hart, are you going to the hospital today?” Mabel asked, popping her head into the dining room. “If you are, I’ll make some soup for Mrs. Iris Reed to take with you.”
Mabel had been worrying about Iris constantly these past few days, wanting to do whatever she could to help. She’d worked for the Reeds for years, ever since she’d lost her family and had nowhere to go.
Iris had always treated her like family, never making her feel like a servant. Mabel had felt more warmth and kindness here than anywhere else. Now that Iris was sick, she was determined to do everything in her power to help.
“Thank you, Mabel. I’ll let you know before I go tomorrow. You can prepare something then,” Quinn said. “But the doctor said she needs to eat light foods-nothing too greasy.”
“Of course. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure it’s suitable for her,” Mabel replied, her face lighting up at the chance to help.
That night, Quinn was about to go to bed when she noticed Peyton was still in the study, working on company matters. He’d been swamped these past few days, too busy to think about anything else.
