Chapter 146 Mia Got Drunk

Quinn had just settled into bed when her phone started ringing.

She picked it up-Leo was on the line.

“Leo? I thought you guys were out for dinner tonight. How come you’ve got time to call me?”

It’s already so late. Could they still be out there?

“Your assistant’s had a bit too much to drink,” Leo said, his voice laced with frustration. “I don’t know where she lives. Can you send me her address? I’ll drop her off personally.”

Mia was Quinn’s employee-he couldn’t just hand her off to, someone else. If anything happened to her, Quinn would never let him hear the end of it. Besides, Quinn had trusted him with her. He had to make sure she got home safe.

“Leo, what on earth were you thinking?” Quinn snapped, instantly on edge. “She’s a young girl out with a bunch of guys. Why did you let her drink that much?”

“Hey, it was her call. I didn’t force her to chug anything,” Leo shot back defensively. “She seemed really happy tonight, you know? Probably felt more relaxed without you hovering over her. Look, are you gonna come over, or should I just wait for you to send the address?”

He was getting anxious. Mia was his responsibility right now, and he didn’t want anything to go wrong.

“Send me your location. I’m on my way,” Quinn said firmly. “And you better keep an eye on her until I get there. Don’t leave her alone for a second.”

She couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. She could guess why Mia had gotten so drunk.

She’s been thrilled to spend time with the guy she likes.

But still, she’s a young woman out with a group of men. Has she given no thought to her own safety? If these had been strangers instead of colleagues, things could’ve gotten really ugly.

Quinn made a mental note to have a serious talk with Mia later-safety always came first, no exceptions,

Before heading out, Quinn popped into Peyton’s study to fill him in on the situation, mentioning Mia’s crush on Leo in passing.

“I’ll go with you,” Peyton said immediately, pushing his chair back. “It’s way too late for you to be out alone.”

He hated the thought of his girlfriend wandering around the city at this hour by herself.

“It’s okay, I can handle it,” Quinn reassured him. “I’ll probably have to take Mia back to her place, and it’ll be awkward with you there. Besides, you’ve still got all that work to finish. Stay home and take care of it.”

She always thought things through carefully, weighing every detail before making a decision.

Peyton knew she had a point, so he reluctantly agreed to let her go alone.

“I’ll have the driver take you. And if anything goes wrong, call me right away. Don’t try to tough it out on

“I will. Don’t worry. Leo’s there with her. Nothing bad’s gonna happen,” Quinn said, giving him a quick peck on the cheek before grabbing her bag.

She met Leo at the address he’d sent her-a dimly lit festaurant booth where Mia was slumped over the table, fast asleep. Leo was sitting beside her, looking completely out of his depth.

“Leo, really? You just left her lying here like this?” Quinn sighed, rushing over to Mia’s side. She shot him a disapproving look. “You should’ve at least moved her to a more comfortable spot.”

“She refused to budge,” Leo said, throwing his hands up in defeat. “I tried to get her to stand, but she wouldn’t listen. Good thing you’re here. We can get her back home together.”

But Quinn hesitated. It was already the middle of the night, and she wasn’t even sure where Mia’s apartment was. Plus, Mia lived with roommates. Showing up unannounced at this hour might cause a scene. She didn’t want to risk it.

“Actually, let’s not take her home,” Quinn said, thinking on her feet. “There’s a nice hotel nearby. We can get her a room for the night. You can book one next door to keep an eye on her. That way, she can sleep it off in peace.”

“Fine by me,” Leo said, nodding.

Together, they helped the groggy Mia to her feet and guided her out of the restaurant. Leo knew a decent hotel just around the corner. He’d stayed there a few times before, so he knew the drill. They got Mia checked in and settled into a cozy room.

“Mia, are you okay?” Quinn murmured, brushing a strand of hair off her assistant’s forehead. She shook her head, exasperated but fond. “You really shouldn’t drink this much when you’re out with people, especially at night. You need to be more careful about your safety.”
