When Quinn woke up, Mabel had already prepared breakfast.

“Mabel, are the others not home?” she asked.

“Mr. Reed and Mrs. Reed left for Reed Manor early this morning,” Mabel replied gently. “They told me to make sure you eat once you’re up. Go ahead and have your meal, miss.”

Off to Reed Manor? Quinn thought. Peyton must have gone see his grandma. He probably wants to resolve things quickly, not wanting to delay company matters.

Meanwhile, at Reed Manor.

Peyton and Eleanor were stopped at the gate as soon as they arrived. The servants blocking them were only following Donna’s orders.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Reed, but you can’t come in today,” one servant said nervously.

“I know who told you that,” Peyton said coldly. “But I need to see Grandma now. Go tell her I’m here. She’ll want to see me.”

He thought Donna was getting more and more outrageous.

“I’m truly sorry, Mr. Reed,” the servant insisted. “Mrs. Iris Reed isn’t feeling well today. She doesn’t want to see any outsiders.”

Outsiders? In just one night, I’ve become an outsider.

Right-I am not a Reed by blood.

The thought made Peyton’s heart sink. He didn’t care about his status; he cared about his relationship with Iris.

They’d been so close. Could their bond really turn then into strangers overnight? He couldn’t accept that.

Peyton didn’t waste any more time arguing. He pulled out his phone and called Iris. But she didn’t answer- probably still unwell. He grew worried. After everything that had happened, he feared her body couldn’t handle the stress.

“Cut the nonsense,” Eleanor snapped. “We’re here to see ris. Even if she never lets us back in after today, we have things to say first.”

“I’m still the lady of this house,” she added sharply. “You have no right to stop me. Move aside-before I lose my temper!”

Eleanor had a fiery personality. The servants knew better than to cross her when she was angry. Even though Peyton wasn’t technically a Reed anymore, his connection to Iris was still strong. The servants hesitated, unsure whether to obey Harold’s orders.

Peyton ignored them, pushing past and opening the ga. He drove his car in before they could react-they had no chance to stop him.

Once inside, Peyton went straight to Iris’ room. She was asleep-she’d barely rested all night. She woke up surprised to see them.

“Grandma, I’m sorry to wake you,” Peyton said softly.

Iris sat up, her expression as warm and kind as ever. She smiled at them.

“Grandma, I came to clear things up,” Peyton said. “I know Mom made a mistake, but I promise we won’t cling to the Reed family.

“I’m willing to give up everything at the company and take all the consequences. I just don’t want to put you in a difficult position or harm your health.”

That’s all he hoped for.
