Just getting to have dinner with Quinn was more than enough. Leo didn’t ask for anything else.
After hanging up the phone, Mia’s mood lifted instantly She felt like she and Leo were getting more and more chances to spend time together.
“I’ve given you your shot-tonight, you’ve got to step up your game,” Quinn said, nudging her gently. “You can be totally relaxed around him. No need to be so stiff Treat him like a friend, and things will naturally get closer between you two.”
Quinn couldn’t help but give Mia a little pep talk. Every time Mia saw Leo, she turned into a bundle of nerves, acting like he was some big, intimidating figure. It really wasn’t necessary.
“I know you’re right, Miss Hart,” Mia sighed, sounding helpless. “I keep telling myself that too, but I just can’t help it. I want to talk to him like a normal person-like he’s just a colleague. But every time I see him, I freeze up.”
Mia had never been in love before, never really liked someone this way. She had zero experience with stuff like this.
She couldn’t even remember when she’d started crushing on him. All she knew was that every time she saw Leo, she got all flustered and shy, unable to stop stealing glances at him.
“You don’t have to be nervous at all,” Quinn said, almost laughing. “You two have known each other for What’s there to be scared of? Leo’s a total softie. He’s not half as intimidating as you think.”
ages.
Quinn found Mia’s awkwardness kind of endearing. Mia was so earnest and dedicated with everything she did.
“I tell myself that every single time!” Mia groaned. “But still mess it up. Every time I try to impress him, I end up making a fool of myself instead.
“Remember last time? I tried to have a drink with him to look cool. But I drank way too much and made such a spectacle of myself in front of him.”
Mia cringed just thinking about that embarrassing incident. She wanted to crawl into a hole and hide whenever it popped into her head.
Quinn chuckled, “No more overdoing it with the drinks tonight, okay? I’ll be right there with you, but you’re a young woman-you’ve got to keep your guard up a little. Drinking too much outside isn’t safe.”
She couldn’t help worrying about Mia.
What if something bad happens to her one day?
Mia’s tolerance is terrible. She can’t hold her liquor at all, but he still insists on pushing herself sometimes.
“I promise, Miss Hart!” Mia said firmly. “After what you old me last time, I realized how dangerous that was. From now on, no matter who I’m out with, I’ll never drink that much again!”
Thinking back to that night still gave her chills. If Leo of Quinn had been bad people, who knew what would’ve happened to her?
Luckily, they were both trustworthy. She’d gotten home safe and sound, and someone had even stayed to take care of her.

“Alright, enough about that for now,” Quinn said. “Let’s wrap up our work as soon as possible so we can leave early today!
“Once we finish these current projects, I’ve got some new patent applications in the pipeline that we need to prioritize. These are big, though-way too much work for just the two of us. So I’m planning to hire a few more people to help out soon.
“That way, both of us can lighten our workload a little!”
Quinn’s goal was to grow her studio bigger and bigger, to build a team she could count on. She wanted a career that was truly her own.
