“Miss Hart, I’ll come tomorrow to help you move,” Mia said firmly. On the drive back, she’d confirmed Quinn was serious about ending things with Felix-she was even taking her full share of the company. And as Quinn’s loyal assistant, Mia was leaving with her.

Quinn nodded. She watched Mia’s car disappear down the driveway, then turned toward the villa. Halfway there, her phone rang-it was the orphanage.

“Quinn!” The director’s panicked voice came through. “Felix’s company just cut our funding! The kids in the hospital-we have to pull them out. What’s going on?”

Orphanage. Felix’s company.

Quinn instantly knew what Felix was up to. Her expression hardened as she forced calm into her voice. “I’ll handle this right away. Don’t worry.”

Her reassurance put the director at ease. The orphanage’s funded kids all had congenital illnesses—their life-saving equipment couldn’t be cut off for a second. Felix knew that better than anyone.

Hanging up, Quinn didn’t hesitate to dial a number she hadn’t used in years. “Hello, this is Kieran Hart.” A familiar male voice answered.

Quinn’s grip on the phone tightened, her eyes burning, voice trembling. “Kieran.”

Silence hung for two seconds. Then a sarcastic tone cut through. “Well, if it isn’t my little sister -off chasing happiness and freedom. What made you call me? Where’s your sweet, caring boyfriend Felix?”

Quinn fought back tears, her voice cracking. “I broke up with him. I need your help.” She quickly explained the orphanage crisis-mentioning it was the same one that had taken her in after she was kidnapped as a child.

“I’ll fix it.” Kieran’s tone softened. He was still angry about her past choices, but this was his baby sister. He couldn’t ignore her tears. After a pause, he added, “I know you’re marrying Peyton. If you’re having second thoughts, I’ll talk to Mom and Dad. But Felix? Absolutely not. I’m not letting him hurt you again.”

Quinn’s eyes grew wet. “I know. I’ll come home once I wrap things up here. I should’ve listened to you-Felix was never the one.”

They hung up. Two minutes later, Kieran texted: the orphanage issue was resolved. He also reminded her to attend the Hale family’s gala tomorrow-celebrating Alistair Hale’s 70th birthday. Word was, the Hale heiress had been pushed into a pool and was still comatose. As long-time family friends, the Harts needed to show their support.

Quinn agreed. That night, Felix didn’t come home. She received a taunting text from Lila, then blocked her number without a second thought.

The next day, Mia picked her up. Quinn first headed to the Hale Manor, then asked Mia to take her belongings to her new place. As she stepped out of the car to enter the manor, a hand suddenly yanked her arm backward-sending her stumbling.

“What are you doing?” Quinn spun around, her eyes cold when she saw Felix.

Felix stared at her-familiar yet strange. Panic fluttered in his chest, like something precious was slipping through his fingers. “So you finally realize you were wrong.”

With that, the smile slipped from her lips. Her eyes turned icy as she locked gazes with Felix,

word sharp and deliberate. “We’re over. And a decent ex? Stays out of the picture- permanently.”

Then she pushed past them and walked into the manor. Felix’s face turned stormy. Lila trembled with anger, but put on a sympathetic act. “It’s my fault, Felix. I shouldn’t have bothered her. I’ll go apologize to the Hales-I don’t want you to be in trouble.”

“Nonsense,” Felix said, grabbing her wrist, his tone softening. “I’ll handle it.” He stared at Quinn’s disappearing figure, his brows furrowed.

Where has her fire come from?
