Chapter 66 A Reunion Over Dinner
They agreed to meet at a restaurant in half an hour.
When Quinn arrived, Leo was already waiting inside.
“Leo,” she called out.
Finished
It had been years since they’d last seen each other, but he looked almost the same-only a little more
mature.
“Quinn! You look more beautiful than ever,” Leo said, a big smile spreading across his face. “And you seem even slimmer than before!”
“You haven’t changed a bit-still as talkative,” Quinn joked. “Mia told me you already fixed my problem. Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
She’d only mentioned it in passing. She never expected him to take it seriously, let alone solve it so quickly.
“I told you—your problems are my problems,” Leo replied. “I hate putting things off. The sooner we fix this, the sooner you can get back to your research.”
He leaned forward, his tone turning serious. “Actually, I’m really interested in your patent. I think you’re on the right track. How about we work together? I have a project that’s perfect for your patent right now.”
When it came to work, Leo always shifted gears-his expression turned focused, a sign of how seriously he took his job.
“Leo, you didn’t go out of your way to help me just to set up this collaboration, did you?” Quinn asked, concerned. “You don’t have to do that. I just needed a favor to get out of a tight spot. I don’t want to keep asking for your help.
“Your company is huge now-I know that. Normally, I’d never get a chance to work with you. You don’t have to force this for my sake.”
Quinn didn’t want to take advantage of his kindnessølet alone drag him into her troubles.
Leo laughed at her worry. “Quinn, have you gotten more conceited over the years? Did losing your memory make you a little slow?
“I’m a businessman now. I’d never do anything that hurts my company’s interests. I want to work with because I truly believe your patent has great potential.”

He grinned wider as he spoke. Even after all these years, their conversation felt natural-no awkwardness at all.
Quinn rolled her eyes, pretending to be annoyed. “Leo, you’re still as teasing as ever. Some things never change!”
He’d always found ways to joke around with her. But being with him had always made her feel relaxed.
“Enough small talk,” Leo said, changing the subject. “I’ll have my team send you the collaboration plan. If you think it’s a good fit, we can move forward. If not, no pressure-I won’t push you.”

“It’s just a collaboration, not a marriage. No one’s forcing you,” he added casually.
His words put Quinn at ease. She knew he was being genuine about her patent.
Finished
She didn’t need more partners right now. Her patent still wasn’t fully developed, and with everything that had happened lately, she’d barely had time to focus on work.
Her engagement was coming up soon, which would only keep her busier. She wouldn’t be able to devote all her energy to the patent.
“Okay, let’s do that,” Quinn agreed seriously. “If it works for both of us, we’ll collaborate. But I don’t want to be a hassle for you.”
Leo nodded. He’d never intended to pressure her anyway.
“Quinn, I heard about what happened to you,” Leo said, his tone softening. “I wanted to reach out and comfort you, but I was scared I’d bother you. We hadn’t talked in so long, after all.
“I’ve wanted to contact you these past few years too… but I didn’t want to intrude.”
Leo sounded helpless as he spoke. He hadn’t planned to bring this up, but he couldn’t hold it back anymore.
“Leo, I was young and naive back then. I made a bad choice,” Quinn admitted. “But I’m out of that mess
now.
“From now on, feel free to call me anytime-even if it’s just to grab dinner. I hope you still see me as a friend.”
For Felix’s sake, she’d pushed away so many people. Over the years, she’d grown distant from everyone around her.
That man had been so controlling. Back then, love had clouded her judgment. She’d thought he was her whole world, willing to give up everything for him.
Now that she looked back, it all seemed so stupid.
“We’ll always be friends,” Leo said firmly. “You’ve always had a place in my heart, even when we weren’t talking.”
