Gaining a foothold in this family and earning Iris’ trust was extremely difficult. If she were in his shoes, she knew she couldn’t do it.
A flicker of tenderness crossed Peyton’s cold eyes. He turned to look at Quinn earnestly and asked suddenly, “Do you really mean that?”
“Of course I do. I’m comforting you, but what I’m saying is true. I think you’re amazing!
“I never lie. You can trust me completely!” Quinn said with a smile.
Peyton felt a surge of happiness and relief hearing her words,
“Actually… if I hadn’t had that past relationship, and if it hadn’t become such a public scandal, this might never have happened. I’m really sorry I dragged you into this.
“I don’t care what others think of me. As long as you’re willing to accept it, that’s all that matters.”
In truth, Quinn had been thinking about this all during their argument. She felt truly guilty.
But this was a part of her past that she couldn’t erase. No matter what happened to them in the future, her relationship with Felix would always be a part of her.
“I don’t care,” Peyton said firmly, his voice softening. “What matters is your present and future. I promise nothing like this will ever happen again. And I’ll protect you!”
Quinn froze. Sometimes she felt like their relationship was moving too fast. They barely knew each other, yet there were times when it felt like they’d known each other for years.
This feeling confused her. She didn’t know what to make of it.
Once home, Peyton left her alone and went to the company to handle work matters.
He’d been at the Reed Manor with her for the past few days, so he’d fallen behind on work. Now that he was back, he had to catch up quickly-otherwise, the backlog would only grow worse.
Quinn was alone again, and the house felt empty. It was a feeling of loneliness she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
But she’d come home with a purpose. There were still many company matters to attend to, and she had nothing else to do. She could use this time to get back to work.
She picked up the phone and called Mia.
“Mia, how’s the company handling going? I’ve found a friend who can help resolve the issues. He’ll take care of everything these days. All you need to do is prepare the patent documents!”
Quinn instructed her.
“Miss Hart, your friend has already resolved all the issues. Our patents are back to normal now. You said you’d be back today. We can discuss everything tomorrow!”

Mia had been working diligently these past few days, and she genuinely enjoyed working with Quinn.
There was no denying the importance of a good work partner. Quinn could see Mia’s dedication-she’d done so much for her.
“Okay, see you tomorrow.”
Quinn was genuinely surprised. She’d only called Leo, and everything had been resolved so quickly.
No matter how long they’d been apart, Leo had kept his word. He was efficient and reliable.
She owed him a debt of gratitude. Quinn decided to treat him to dinner.
“Miss Hart, Mr. Reed called earlier,” Mabel said. “He specifically instructed me to prepare dinner for you and asked me to make sure I ask what you’d like to eat. He wants it to be perfect for you.”
Quinn felt a warm surge of affection. Even though he wasn’t home, he’d still been thinking about her.
She was deeply touched.
“Thank you, Mabel.”
“You’re welcome. Mr. Reed specifically told me to take good care of you while he’s away. I’ve never seen him care so much about anyone. I can tell he truly values you!
“Mr. Reed seems cold on the outside, but he’s actually very attentive and kind to people!”
Mabel had always had a good impression of him and spoke highly of him.
“Hmm.” Quinn nodded.
“Mabel, there’s no need to prepare anything for me tonight. I’m meeting a friend for dinner. He’s helped me a lot, and I want to thank him properly.
“Don’t worry. If there’s anything I like to eat, I’ll definitely tell you. And I won’t hesitate to ask for anything!”
“Very well, Miss Hart.” Mabel nodded.
Quinn contacted Leo. After all, he’d helped her so much. She owed him a proper thank-you dinner.
