“Mr. Cole? Mr. Hale requests your presence,” a waiter in a crisp uniform said, gliding over with a polite smile. He inclined his head slightly and gestured toward the dimly lit balcony, where several tall, imposing men sat-exuding an air of quiet authority that demanded respect.

Lila glanced up by chance, locking eyes with those hawkish, piercing stares that seemed to bore right through her. Fear flooded her veins in an instant, sending a shiver down her spine.

She shrank back instinctively, like a frightened fawn, scurrying behind Felix and clutching his jacket tightly, her voice trembling with tears. “Felix, I’m scared.”

Felix’s brows knit into a deep scowl. A flicker of irritation crossed his face. Without hesitation, he grabbed Quinn’s wrist-his grip so tight it felt like it would crush her bones. He dragged her toward the balcony, completely ignoring her protests.

“Felix, let go! What the hell are you doing?” Quinn stumbled forward, yanking at his ironclad fingers. She bit her lower lip hard, her eyes blazing with anger.

Felix acted like he didn’t hear her, pulling her along relentlessly, his voice dripping with arrogant certainty. “Quinn, apologize to the Hales today, and I’ll take you to get married right away.”

As if that was some grand gift-he was still feeding her empty promises, trying to make her take the fall for Lila’s crime.

“Are you out of your mind?!” Quinn bit her lip so hard she tasted blood. She glared at the man she’d once loved more than anything, her eyes burning with rage.

How ridiculous! He’d once sworn to protect her for a lifetime, to shield her from all harm, to be her rock forever. But now, for another woman, he’d thrown her to the wolves without a second thought, leaving her to face the unknown alone.

Felix’s eyes were cold, devoid of any mercy. He roughly grabbed her arm and shoved her forward-Quinn stumbled and crashed to the floor in front of the Hales, her elbow slamming against the hard, icy ground.

A searing pain shot through her, and she let out a muffled gasp. Glancing down, she saw blood oozing from the scrape, a stark red against her pale skin.

“Mr. Hale, this is the woman who pushed your sister into the pool,” Felix said flatly, his voice colder than winter wind, with no hint of warmth.

Then he grabbed a handful of her hair, yanking so hard tears pricked at her eyes-but she refused to let them fall. He pinned her roughly against the coffee table, the sharp edge digging into her ribs as she struggled futilely.

“Apologize to Miss Hale, now!” he snarled, looming over her with a look of command and threat.

When Felix met her eyes-filled with pure, unbridled hatred-his heart skipped a beat. For a split second, he saw the utter despair and resolve in her gaze.

I’m sorry, Quinn. Once this is over, I’ll make it up to you-anything you want, I’ll give you.

But he never said the words out loud.

“You’re blind and delusional-accusing the wrong person like it’s nothing!” Quinn ground out each word through gritted teeth, her voice thick with anger and disgust.

Then she turned to Reginald and Roman, her eyes wide and innocent, her voice trembling with feigned timidity. “Mr. Hale, I swear-1 saw her push your sister. She even tried to frame me for it afterward! Lucky for me, Felix is so smart-he saw right through her lies.

She paused, biting her lower lip as a cunning glint flickered in her eyes. Then she let out a sigh of fake regret and added, “Who would’ve thought she’d still be lying to you like this-even with the truth staring her right in the face? She’s so damn stubborn. It’s totally hopeless.”

As Lila spoke, she plotted silently, her eyes gleaming with cruelty and anticipation.

Hurry up and throw her in. Once she’s gone, no one will stand in my way ever again.

She squeezed Felix’s arm tighter, drawing false courage from his presence as she wove her web of lies for everyone to see.

Reginald and Roman exchanged a look, their sharp gazes flickering between Quinn and Lila, as if weighing their words carefully.

For several long seconds, they hesitated-unsure of what to believe.
