Chapter 89 The Audacious Aggression
Deep down, he was only doing what he had to-protecting himself, and his family.

“Mom, I’m your son! Tyler’s your grandson! We’re both your flesh and blood! So why the double standard? You’ve really broken my heart. I’m done with this family-completely and utterly done!” Harold roared, his voice shaking with rage and resentment.
“I wanted to help turn the company around too! But you know you never truly handed the reins to me. It’s not that I didn’t want to step up-it’s that I never got your backing!”
He was seething, burning with bitterness. Even now, with everything falling apart, he still clung to the hope of clawing back more power. That company would never end up in Peyton’s hands-not if he had any say in it.
“That’s enough!” Iris shouted, her voice cracking like a whip.
“I don’t want to hear another word of your nonsense! If you’re so unhappy here, if you hate me this much, then get out! Get out of this house right now! And don’t you dare call yourself my son ever again!
“I’ve known exactly what you’ve been up to all these years! Don’t think that just because I stepped back from the company, I’m blind to your messes!
“You’re my son-that’s the only reason I turned a blind eye, the only reason I never called you out on your garbage! But now? Now you’ve gone too far!”
Iris voice trembled as she spoke, her heart breaking into pieces. She hated having to be this harsh, but she had no other choice.
That company was her life’s work. She had to leave it in the hands of someone who could actually keep it running-someone who could make it thrive.
“Fine! If that’s how it is, then we’re gone!” Harold snapped, jumping to his feet. He didn’t even glance back, too furious and hurt to care about the mess he was leaving behind.
“Wait, honey! Why do we have to leave?” Donna shrieked, yanking him back. “This is your home too! Are you just going to hand it over to them like this? We’re family-we belong here!”
“Iris, I know I shouldn’t be saying this on your birthday,” she said, turning to Iris with a venomous glare, “but I have to get this off my chest! Why does Peyton get the company handed to him on a silver platter? Even if he’s running it now, don’t we deserve our fair share of the shares?
“We’re part of this family too! Where’s our inheritance? Did he swallow it all up by himself?”
She was rambling now, her words spilling out in a jumbled, angry mess. Harold was ready to storm out, but she refused to budge.
If they left now, they’d never have another chance to come back. And once Iris made up her mind, she never changed it.
“Enough! What’s the point of arguing with them?” Harold snarled, dragging her toward the door. “This family doesn’t want us anymore! Let’s just go!”

“No! We’re not leaving!” Donna wrenched herself free, her voice rising to a screech. “This is our home too! I’m not leaving until we get what’s ours!”
She was determined to keep the fight going, her stance unshakable. She wasn’t going anywhere-not today.
“Have you two caused enough trouble already?” Peyton’s voice cut through the chaos, cold and deadly. “If anything happens to Grandma because of you, I swear to God, I will make you pay!
“Who runs the company is Grandma’s decision! What have you two ever done for this business? What gives you the right to judge her choices?”
Peyton had had enough of their garbage. He’d always tried to ignore their petty schemes, always thought it was a waste of time to fight back. But today was different.
He could see the strain on Iris’ face-could see her struggling to catch her breath, her heart clearly failing
her.
It was her birthday. And they’d ruined it.
“Don’t you dare act like you’re some hero, Peyton!” Harold spat, his face turning red with fury. “You got everything handed to you on a silver platter! What makes you think you’re so special?
“I’m your uncle! I should be the one lecturing you-not the other way around!”
“And what about you? Have you even fixed your own messes?” he sneered, his eyes darting to Quinn. “That girl got crippled for you! She’ll never walk again because of you! And what do you do? You go off and marry someone else! You’re a cold-hearted, ungrateful monster!”
Harold had lost all control, screaming the secret aloud right in front of Quinn. He’d assumed she had no idea what had happened-assumed this would be the final blow, the thing that would make her run for the
hills.
He shot a triumphant glance at her, fully expecting to see shock and betrayal on her face.
But to his utter disbelief, she didn’t even flinch.
