Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1052

They were standing so close that Jimmie got a crystal-clear look at Luella's face. For a 'man,' those features were shockingly delicate, the skin absolutely flawless and luminous. Despite the masculine styling, there was an undeniable hint of girlish innocence if you looked closely enough. Was it just a natural pretty-boy aesthetic? No wonder 'he' liked men!

"What are you staring at, Jimmie?" Luella refused to back down, leaning in until their faces were inches apart.

"Shameless!" Jimmie scrambled back, his handsome face cycling between flushed red and pale white. Frustrated, he snapped, "Move out of the way!"

"Tsk." Luella clicked her tongue and lazily stepped aside, leaving only a narrow gap.

"I'm leaving," Jimmie called out to Juniper before squeezing past Luella. The space was so tight, and Luella purposely didn't give him enough room, so their bodies inevitably brushed against each other.

"Did you do that on purpose?" Luella asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jimmie shot her a venomous glare and stormed off without looking back.

"What a coward. He can't even take a joke." Luella retracted her gaze, thoroughly amused.

"You know," Juniper gave her a sideways glance, smiling helplessly, "if you keep bullying him, karma is going to catch up with you."

"I'm not even afraid of death, you think I care about karma?" Luella flopped onto the sofa next to Juniper and lowered her voice. "Hey, I totally just copped a feel of his abs. Counted 'em. There's at least eight."

Juniper nearly choked on her water. She stared at Luella in shock. "Don't tell me you actually have a thing for him?"

"Huh?" Luella paused, then quickly waved her hands. "Relax, I don't fish off the company pier. Even if that particular fish looks incredibly tasty."

Juniper didn't say a word, her gaze deepening with suspicion. Really? She didn't buy it for a second. The way Luella looked at Jimmie was like a wolf eyeing a very naive rabbit.

"Good faith?" Juniper's eyes narrowed, her expression growing complex.

"They're developing a new serum and they're missing a key ingredient. The exact ingredient the Sigma Network's medical research base just finalized. Sanctum Holdings wants you to raid the base and steal it."

"Fine. Tell them we agree, but they have to pay half the fee upfront."

"Already handled," Luella said, patting her chest confidently. "The money has already hit Subterra Vanguard's offshore accounts. So, Boss, when are we blowing up the Sigma Network's base?" she asked, sounding entirely too excited.

"Heh." Shanley's gaze turned icy as he spoke in a slow, deliberate drawl. "Are you taking pleasure in this, Mr. Langley?"

"Is it that obvious?" Luella's eyebrows shot up, a bright smile on her face. "You're not having second thoughts, are you, Juniper? If we don't make a big enough explosion, they won't buy it."
