"Wow, this is huge."
"Wow, seriously huge."
"Wow, what a massive private jet!"
Jimmie watched her pace around the entire cabin, muttering constantly under her breath.
"The seat colors are terrible, though." Luella complained, dropping onto one of the plush sofas and patting the armrest with a pout. "Black is way too dark. White would have been much better. I love white."
"Is that so?"
Jimmie took a slow sip of his coffee, a cold smile touching his lips. "Why don't I just give you the plane?"
"Really?!"
Luella shot up, her eyes sparkling.
"What do you think?"
Jimmie stared at her with dark, unimpressed eyes, looking at her like she was an idiot. "The plane hasn't taken off yet. Throwing someone out the door wouldn't be much of a problem."
"You know what I mean..."
Luella immediately read the room and sat back down, flashing a bright, cheeky grin. "Such uniquely designed seats absolutely demand black. It's elegant, sophisticated, and perfectly matches your vibe!"
"Heh."
Jimmie's dark eyes narrowed slightly, his expression unreadable. "Is this exactly how you tricked Juniper with that silver tongue of yours?"
"My feelings for Juniper are as real as it gets!"
Luella bristled instantly at the mention of her friend. "I'm totally genuine when it comes to her."
Seeing how fiercely serious she got, Jimmie was actually taken aback.
When Juniper had been in danger before, Luella had risked her life twice to try and save her.
He had never actually doubted her loyalty.
"Sit down. We're about to take off," Jimmie said, losing interest in her theatricals.
"Got it."
Luella obediently strapped herself in, quietly waiting for takeoff.
The engines roared. Acceleration, lift-off, gear retraction.
As the flight leveled out, Eclara City fell further and further behind.
Luella turned her head to look out the window. Her carefully constructed facade of toughness shattered in an instant, her eyes slowly turning bloodshot.
She was going back to that sickening snake pit, forced to play nice with those hypocritical bastards all over again.
*Sigh.*
She really was going to miss Eclara City. She was going to miss Juniper.
Jimmie leaned his seat back and glanced over at the person beside him.
