Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1302

*Smack—*

Jimmie slammed his phone face-down on the table with such force that the producer jolted in fear.

"Mr. Tate, is something wrong with the terms?"

Thinking the contract was the issue, the producer was terrified. He had spent over half a year trying to secure Jimmie's schedule. Pissing him off now would be a disaster.

"Nothing."

Realizing he had lost his composure, Jimmie rubbed his temples and stood up. "Keep talking. I'm going out for a smoke."

"Are you okay?"

His agent glanced at his leg. Even though he could walk, he still needed to be extremely careful.

"I'm fine."

The medication Juniper formulated for him worked wonders, and his recovery was going exceptionally well.

Closing the door behind him, Jimmie put on a hat and mask and walked toward the restroom. There was a designated smoking area nearby.

Just as he turned the corner, a familiar figure came into view.

Luella?

He chuckled mockingly at himself. This wasn't the first time he'd hallucinated her out of sheer longing.

He closed his eyes, planning to keep walking.

But when he opened them, the "hallucination" was still there, staggering toward the women's restroom.

Jimmie: "?"

He quickened his pace, caught up to her, and grabbed her arm.

"?"

Luella stumbled, falling directly into his chest and bumping her head.

"Who the hell..." She rubbed her forehead, looking up to meet a very familiar face.

Huh?

She stared blankly for two seconds, instinctively leaned in, patted his cheek, and giggled. "Hey, man. You look just like that pretty boy, Jimmie Tate."

"Why don't you take a closer look? I just might be him."

Smelling the heavy stench of alcohol on her breath, Jimmie furrowed his brows, his voice frosty.

"?"

Luella blinked, her vision slowly clearing. Her eyes widened. "Mmph—"

Hearing his accusations, a wave of guilt hit her. She lowered her head sheepishly.

"What, afraid I'm going to demand medical expenses?"

"No."

"Then why?" He pulled her closer, forcing her to look up at him. "Luella, are you hiding from me?"

Recently, whenever he visited Juniper, this jerk would sprint in the opposite direction the moment she heard he was coming. Not just once.

"You..."

"Achoo!" She couldn't hold back a sneeze.

The club was heavily air-conditioned, and she was soaked. Her nose was bright red from the cold.

Jimmie swallowed his reprimand. "Do you have spare clothes?"

She shook her head. What kind of normal person brought a change of clothes to a bar?

"I do. Follow me."

——

Luella waited outside the suite. Soon, he emerged with an orange shopping bag.
