Noticing that the older woman hadn't moved to grab her things, Luella's smile faltered, her brows pulling together.

"If we both leave, your mother will be so lonely here," Megan said, gently patting Luella's hand. Her voice was soft but resolute. "I want to stay behind and keep her company."

Megan had never married and had no family of her own. Luella's mother was the one who had taken her in. There was no way she would ever abandon her.

Megan was deeply stubborn; once she made a decision, there was no changing her mind. Staying near her mother's memory was perhaps the best ending for her.

Luella didn't push it, forcing a brave smile. "I'll bring him back to meet you and my mom properly."

"I've already packed your things." Megan wheeled out a suitcase, her expression turning serious. "Stellara Country is a mess right now. The sooner you leave, the better."
