"Alright," Jimmie agreed without a second thought. "Whenever you want to go back, we'll go."

"The mess in Stellara Country is handled, but your life is completely chaotic right now."

Luella rested her hands against his firm chest, looking down at him with a raspy voice. "Jimmie, I think I dragged you down with me."

"You didn't."

Jimmie pulled her tighter against him, pressing a warm kiss to her forehead. His voice was rich and soothing. "We're in this together. Whatever comes, we face it as a team."

"Besides..." He smirked, his tone turning playfully arrogant, "Is there a law against me having a serious girlfriend?"

Luella thought about it for a second, then shook her head firmly. "No law against that."

"I'll handle the fallout," Jimmie said, pulling the blanket up to cover them both securely. "You've been on a plane all day. You must be exhausted. Sleep first. We'll figure everything else out when you wake up."

"Okay."

Luella felt like she was forgetting something important, but she had been running on fumes for days. The exhaustion finally caught up with her, and she obediently closed her eyes.

She would remember it when she woke up.

After Luella drifted off to sleep, Jimmie carefully slipped out from under the blanket, threw on a shirt, and quietly exited the room.

The food and sleep on airplanes were notoriously terrible. He planned to head down to the kitchen and whip up something delicious so she would have hot food waiting for her the moment she woke up.

He stepped out of the room, taking long strides down the hallway. After a few steps, his foot suddenly connected with something solid.

Jimmie looked down, only to find a five- or six-year-old boy curled up in a ball in the middle of the corridor.

Jared had been sound asleep. Jolted awake by the kick, he rubbed his eyes and glared groggily at the culprit.

His brother-in-law?

He was incredibly handsome, sure, but would he bully Luella?

"Who are you?"

Seeing the kid staring a hole right through him, Jimmie frowned slightly. "What are you doing out here?"
