"Jimmie, this chicken is amazing!"

Jared sucked the grease off his fingers, looking up at Jimmie with his eyes crinkled into happy little crescents.

"Eat whatever you want."

Jimmie leaned back in his chair, thoroughly amused by his sudden new brother-in-law. "Shrimp, fries, ice cream... it's all yours."

"You're the best, Jimmie!"

Jared had been entirely conquered by the food. He called him "Jimmie" as naturally as if they had known each other for years. "I was never allowed to eat any of this stuff back home!"

His mom always said that eating junk food would make his brain rot. And if he was stupid, he wouldn't be able to fight Luella for the Executive Chief position.

"What's your name?" Jimmie asked gently, handing him a napkin.

"Jared."

Jared wiped his mouth, his cheeks still stuffed like a chipmunk's. "I'm five. I'm in kindergarten, and my favorite sport is soccer."

At that, Jared beamed with pride. "Luella even played soccer with me once."

"She plays soccer?"

Jimmie propped his chin on his hand, a fond smile resting on his lips.

Looking closely, the kid really did resemble Luella a bit. Especially the eyes. When he smiled, they curved in the exact same bright, innocent way.

"Yeah!" Jared nodded enthusiastically. "My sister is amazing. She can do everything."

"When I was little, she even took me to the top of a mountain and flew a helicopter!"

"When you were little?" The amusement in Jimmie's eyes deepened. "How little? You're practically a baby right now."

"Toddler class. I was like three," Jared replied, sounding incredibly serious and far too old for his age.

"Oh?"

Jimmie smirked. He honestly hadn't known Luella could fly a helicopter.

Then again, knowing her personality, it wasn't exactly surprising.

"What other interesting things has your sister done? Tell me."
