Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1418

Kissing a pretty boy?!

Thirteen-year-old Juniper had already learned how to kiss pretty boys?!

Dammit.

Who the hell was she kissing?!

Just as he mustered up the courage to tap the video...

A lazy voice suddenly drifted from behind him. "What are you looking at?"

"Smack—"

Startled and feeling incredibly guilty, his fingers slipped, and the phone dropped straight onto the floor.

As luck would have it, the screen landed perfectly face up, displaying the exact email Michelle had just sent him.

She had been rubbing the sleep from her eyes, but the loud thud instantly snapped her fully awake.

It also gave her a perfect view of what was on the screen.

Juniper: "?"

Oh, this was rich.

One of them had completely disregarded her wishes, and the other had secretly smuggled the files.

She marched over, scooped up the phone, and glared down at him. "Did you watch them yet?"

"Not yet."

He sat on the sofa, his face dark and his chest tight with irritation.

His mind was entirely consumed by the realization that he wasn't the first man she had kissed.

He was angry.

He was jealous.

He felt completely slighted.

"Oh."

She knew he wouldn't lie to her. Shoving the phone directly into her pocket, she scoffed coldly. "Perfect. Now you can't watch them at all."

Watching her walk away, he sat there seething with rage, having absolutely nowhere to vent his frustration.

No wonder she hadn't wanted him to see them.

Hmph.

He understood perfectly now.

After getting a glass of water, she headed back into the bedroom and slept right through until dusk.

When she finally wandered into the living room and didn't see him anywhere, a confused frown creased her forehead.

Weird.

He didn't have work today, and she had his phone. Where could he be?

"Ms. Payne." Dana greeted softly as she carried a tray of freshly cooked food out from the kitchen.

"Where's Shanley?"

The moment the question left her lips, a loud, rhythmic "thump, thump, thump" echoed from the kitchen.

If she hadn't been paying attention, she would've thought there was an earthquake.
