Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1463

“Yep.”

Juniper answered without an ounce of hesitation. “If my brother ever wronged you, I'd deliver divine justice and smash his head in.”

“Pfft—”

Lorelei couldn't hold back a laugh, the corners of her lips turning up.

She was so fierce.

Lorelei seriously doubted whether Harold was actually her biological brother.

Seeing Shanley approach, Juniper took the initiative to introduce him as well. “This is Shanley Schwartz, my fiancé.”

“Lorelei.” After offering a polite greeting, Shanley immediately took the heavy bag from Juniper's hands and draped his jacket over her shoulders. “It's windy. Keep this on.”

“I just fell and got my clothes dirty. It's going to get on your jacket,” Juniper blinked.

“Doesn't matter.” Shanley adjusted the jacket over her, thoughtfully doing up the buttons.

Watching their natural, incredibly sweet dynamic, Lorelei felt a pang of envy.

“You two chat. We're going to take a walk.”

Harold pulled Shanley aside. As they walked, he eyed Shanley's outfit critically. “What a mess of a look. You really do spoil her rotten, don't you?”

“I've only got one wife, who else am I supposed to spoil?”

Shanley reveled in it, making no effort to hide his utter devotion to the girl. He said proudly, “As long as she's happy, she can do whatever she wants. Even if the sky falls, I'll be there to hold it up.”

“What about you? What's the situation? Pulling me away all of a sudden—something's up.”

Harold's lips pressed into a tight line, his expression turning solemn as he spoke in a completely serious tone. “My wife wants to divorce me.”

“Yeah, I know.”

Shanley sat opposite Harold, parting his lips. “I've been wondering what the reason is. Too much time apart, or did the relationship just break down?”

“Neither.”

Harold tightened his jaw. Meeting Shanley's gaze, he answered honestly, “My wife is in love with another man.”

Huh?

Shanley raised an eyebrow, almost convinced he had misheard.

He meant Lorelei liked another guy?

She was cheating on him?

“Hmph.”

Harold furrowed his brow, a quiet chuckle escaping his throat. “Deal.”

Nearby.

Juniper sat next to Lorelei, carefully observing her.

She had a very refined, academic aura about her—elegant and noble. What did she resemble?

A very expensive, purebred Persian cat.

“I'm really sorry, Juniper, earlier I thought you were…” Lorelei clenched her fingers tightly, offering an awkward smile.

“Thought I was who?”

Juniper leaned in closer, lowering her voice. “Thought I was Harold's secret lover?”

Lorelei pursed her lips. Unable to lie, she was seen through instantly.

So if the old flame wasn't Juniper, then who was it?
