Eight Years of Maybe One Day of I Do—Bride Swapped Deal With It novel Chapter 115

Chapter 4

Cracks appeared on Mrs. Winters’ well-maintained face, her voice full of panic,

“What-pull the investments?! What about the Winters Group’s projects?!”

She grabbed Jackson’s arm and forced him to bow down and apologize to me.

“Even if you two are fighting, you can’t say things like that! Apologize to Scarlett right now!”

Mr. Winters was so furious his veins were bulging. He slammed his cane hard against the floor.

“You can’t pull the funding! You can’t destroy the Winters family business over some impulsive decision!”

The Winters family was in complete chaos.

My mom looked at me with a hint of approval in her eyes, silently mouthing, “That’s my girl.”

My dad watched me quietly for a moment, then spoke.

“Are you sure about this?”

I nodded, my voice calm.

“I’m sure.”

All his so-called love was just a disguise for profit. And now he didn’t bother to even pretend.

Then can’t blame me for taking back what’s mine.

Dad nodded, making it final.

“We respect your decision. The Winters Group’s future is in your hands now.”

Mrs. Winters’ last shred of dignity crumbled. She looked at me pleadingly, gripping Jackson’s hand even tighter.

Jackson’s eyes turned bloodshot. He violently shook off his mother’s hand and lashed out.

“Just because I won’t marry you, you’re going to destroy MY family?! You’re going to cut off our livelihood?! You’re nothing but a heartless, evil bitch!”

“You think threatening me like this will break me and Penelope up? Dream on!”

Something seemed to cross his mind, and he looked at me with a trace of pity.

“You think this is going to get my attention? If you apologize right now and add another two billion to the Winters Group’s investment, I might acknowledge you as my wife in public. But that’s it.”

I smirked, letting a hint of malice creep into my smile.

“I don’t want anything to do with you.”

“Besides, your family’s funding? You only got it because of our engagement in the first place. Now you want to call it off and keep our money? Who the hell do you think you are?!”

“You guys were the ones who forced it on us!”

Jackson was shaking with rage.

He slammed his fist on the table, his voice dripping with arrogance.

“You saw the Winters Group’s potential and couldn’t wait to invest. I only accepted because you were my fiancée-I was doing you a favor!”

“Ila. You’re shameless as hell.”

I let out a cold laugh. I was done wasting my breath on him. I turned to leave.

But Jackson quickly stepped in front of me, blocking my way.

He took a deep breath, like he was the one being wronged here.

“Fine. Whatever you say. But you can’t pull the investment!”

“Our families have been close for years. How can you destroy that?! You’ve always been paranoid about me and Penelope. Just because she said one wrong thing, you won’t let it go. And now you’re dragging personal drama into family business?!”

“Can you stop being so childish?!”

I almost laughed at how ridiculous he sounded.

“I’m sensitive? Weren’t you the one who said she’s way more fun than me? That the only reason you’d marry me is for the company?!”

“Weren’t you the one who said once you took over my family’s fortune, you’d live happily ever after with Penelope?!”

“And now you’re twisting it around, making me look like the bad guy in front of everyone. You really have no shame, do you?!”

The second I finished, my dad’s gaze toward Jackson turned cold-full of disgust and hostility.
