Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 527

Both of them had returned to their home country. She'd heard that Faith was now a principal dancer at a national dance company.

"Faith?" Emma said the name, but Isla's expression remained unchanged, as if she'd never heard of her.

Emma tried again. "Sebastian?"

At that, Isla's face shifted ever so slightly.

Emma knew then that the 'original creator' she was referring to was Sebastian.

"Isla, if you're truly this dissatisfied with our company, this is a two-way street. We can terminate your contract," Emma stated. "But if you continue to slander the company and my work, I will reserve the right to sue."

Isla just smiled. "You can try to sue. See if you win. I don't fight battles I'm not prepared to win, Emma."

She emphasized Emma's name with heavy sarcasm.

Then, she turned and strode proudly past Emma. At the door, she glanced back. "And as for terminating my contract, I don't think so. You have no grounds to fire me. I haven't violated a single clause. If you fire me without cause, I'll sue you too."

Watching her leave, Emma wondered: was she sent by Sebastian? Or was she here to get 'revenge' for him?

That evening, Emma went back to her place near the school.

Genevieve came over with fruit tarts.

"It seems she's come to bother you," Genevieve said with a look of 'I knew it.' "Emma, she's our neighbor. She's a little older than me and has been chasing after my brother since we were kids. When my brother started dancing, she started dancing. When he applied to the Dance Academy, she applied to the Dance Academy. When he came to England... well, when I went home for the new year, I heard she was planning to come to England too. Now my brother is back home, but she... she still had to come to England for school."

So, she was in love with Sebastian.

"Emma, she's arrogant, willful, and incredibly bossy. She never let my brother play with any other girls. Eventually, he was so fed up that he ran off to the Cresthaven Performing Arts Troupe after graduation, but she would still visit him from time to time," Genevieve explained, shaking her head. "If she gives you any trouble, just ignore her. Or better yet, tell me, and I'll help you take care of her."

Emma smiled. "You think you can handle her?"

Genevieve tilted her head. "I've been clashing with her since we were little. I'm an expert at getting under her skin!"

Emma just smiled faintly, deciding not to tell her that Isla was now in her dance company. From what Genevieve said, their families were old friends. And though Genevieve described their relationship as a rivalry, it also hinted at a complicated childhood bond forged through years of bickering.
