Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 545

Emma knew that the name Theodore was a red flag for her brother.

But Larson wouldn’t say anything harsh in front of his sister. He simply pretended he hadn’t heard and changed the subject. “Dinner’s ready. Grandma and Mom have been planning this meal for days, changing the menu over and over to make all your favorites.”

It only made him feel more like the adopted son.

Emma beamed. When she first met her brother, she had been a little intimidated by his powerful presence, even though he was incredibly kind to her. But at home, especially around his mother, he was much more playful.

They all sat down together for a lavish feast. After days of stews and sausages, the sudden shift to delicate, familiar cuisine was a welcome change of pace.

After dinner, Emma chatted with her family, recounting her adventures in Ireland for what felt like hours. She even showed them some of the local dances she had learned, much to their delight.

It wasn't until she was back in her own room that the month-long journey truly felt over. The air was filled with the familiar scent of gardenia from her diffuser. She sat on the soft rug by the French doors, sipping a cup of hot fruit tea. Outside, snow had begun to fall again. She opened the envelope she’d been holding and took out the slip of paper with Anna's contact information.

She formally sent a friend request. Whatever her feelings, she couldn’t ignore Anna’s kindness. She had to thank her.

Anna accepted almost immediately and sent a friendly emoji.

Emma replied with an emoji of her own before typing: *I received the jar. Thank you both.*

*Both*.

She had used the word intentionally. Theodore and Anna were a unit.

Anna replied: *You’re welcome.*

Emma: *I can't imagine how you managed to get it back here. It must have been a lot of trouble.*
