Three days later.

Evelyn changed into a professional outfit, applied some light makeup, and grabbed her design portfolio before heading out.

She had arranged to meet Director Abner at the hotel where the auditions were taking place.

Evelyn waited in the lobby for quite a while before Thad Calder finally rushed over.

"Ms. Lawler, I am so sorry to keep you waiting."

"It's no problem," Evelyn replied. "Will Director Abner be delayed much longer?"

"Ms. Fulton is here to audition. The director is waiting for her, so he won't be able to make it."

"Vickie Fulton is starring in his movie?" Evelyn was slightly surprised.

Director Abner was a highly respected veteran in the industry. His box office numbers were always guaranteed, and he notoriously despised working with idol actors who solely relied on their fame.

"She has both the star power and the acting chops. If schedules align and the role fits, she'll likely join the cast," Thad said, noticing the envelope in Evelyn's hands. "Is that your design draft? You can just hand it to me. Director Abner said the final decision for the costume designer will be announced at the briefing this Friday, and it's down to either Cloud Nine Atelier or Luminex Design. Please be patient until then."

After finishing her audition, Vickie walked out and spotted a familiar figure disappearing around the corner of the corridor.

"Evelyn Lawler? What is she doing here?"

Thad looked slightly surprised. "You know her, Ms. Fulton? She's one of the costume designers Director Abner invited. Though it's not set in stone yet, she's practically secured the job."

Luminex Design only made it this far because of some industry connections.

"Is that so? Good for her," Vickie gritted her teeth, utterly displeased.

Suddenly, Thad clutched his stomach, his face turning pale. "I'm so sorry, Ms. Fulton. My stomach is killing me. I need to excuse myself for a moment..."

He kept throwing desperate glances toward the restroom.
