Zevran.
Even after saying the words, I didn’t believe my ears. I couldn’t believe it even with all the proof glaring straight at me in the face.
And guys, it was no rocket science.
I hadn’t just learned that aliens were intending to turn the world into a breeding ground.
I didn’t even learn that the big bang theory was created by a seven year old.
I simply got to find out that Leilani was drunk.
Our prim and proper Leilani who hardly catches fun or listens to music was all out drunk, and that in itself made me immediately realize that something had to be wrong.
I shot up and picked up my car keys, momentarily forgetting to wait for my brothers as I dashed out of the house, and I had only just got into my car and turned on the ignition when I felt a presence beside me. It was Caelum and he was panting heavily with his palm pressed against his chest as he whispered; "Were you planning to leave me behind?"
"Us..." Kael cut in from the backseat, "...were you planning to leave us behind? What if she is in trouble or she’s being a handful?"
"Well she’s what? 5"2? 5"3?... I don’t think someone as small as her could ever be a handful for someone as big as me." I spat, ignoring the way my brothers snickered as I drove the car out of the parking lot.
My heart raced in my chest as I drove, beating all possible traffic lights leading to her house. My sweaty hands felt clammy too and my brothers... well, I could simply just say that their harsh pants and panicked murmurs spurred me into driving faster.
We arrived at the front of her house ten minutes earlier than we were supposed to, and as soon as we did, we rushed out of the car like the devil was hot on our tails and began to frantically ring the doorbell.
A moment passed and two...
And another minute.
Still nothing.
My heart, pounding with panic, constricted in my chest. And goddess, at this point, even breathing seemed difficult. When I tried again and again and failed just as much to get her to pick her calls or come to the door, I dragged in a deep breath and muttered; "Can’t we just go in?"
"I have tried. It is locked." Caelum drawled,
"Is it locked from inside or from outside?" I hissed, pounding my fists against the metal object; But the more I hit it, the louder it echoed.
Silence filled my ears in that deafening manner that would let you know that something was definitely out of place and I contemplated reaching out to Darius, but upon remembering how eccentric he could be sometimes, I shook my head, immediately killing the thought.
"She’s not in the house," Finally, Kael spoke up. He’d been quietly rounding the house the entire time.
"Huh?" Caelum snorted, turning around to face him.
Even I seemed surprised as I cocked my eyebrows at him, but before I could voice out my thoughts, he beat me to it. "The house is as quiet as a graveyard. I peeked through the window by the side and her living room is sparkling clean..."
"But—"
"Also, her car is nowhere to be found. But because we’ve been panicking so much these past few minutes, we failed to notice it earlier."

I mean, I could never imagine losing my brothers even though they were pains in my ass ninety- nine point nine percent of the time.
