Zevran.
It was one thing to see Leilani all broken down and mourning. It was one thing to know her as the girl who hates the thought of us so much, you would never even find her batting her eyelashes around us...
And another... another thing entirely to see her so unabashed. So unruly and effortlessly funny all because she’s had a few cups of alcohol in her system.
Her purple eyes gleamed with excitement as she walked from one brother to the other, spewing things that I would’ve sworn with my liver that she would never be caught saying...
An example of this was when she walked up to me, all cutesy and soaked through and through by the rain. I had almost begun to think that she would snap at me for bringing my brothers here. I was afraid that she would accuse us of never letting her be whenever she needs it, until she opened her deliciously plump lips and asked;
"Do you think I am pretty?"
I gulped. My face burned despite the weather. My body thrummed with emotions I could barely contain as I whispered; "Yes... yes, you’re beautiful."
I had just said that when my eyes met my brothers’, and I had half expected them to make mockery of my very flustered state. But then I realized that they were just as flustered as I was.
Why?
Because Leilani was being sultry.
She was so hot... smoking hot. And all she had to do was be drunk.
"Ah yes! No wonder you’re always coming around even though I’ve told you times without numbers not to!" She drawled, smacking my upper arm playfully; But I didn’t feel pain. I felt a strange kind of warmth bloom in my chest instead.
"...don’t worry, Princesses! I think you’re beautiful too! Now, come on in, we’re soaked!" She finished, but at that moment, all I could think about was the fact that she had just called me beautiful too... that there was a high chance that she may find me attractive.
The thought made my cheeks burn so much, I was sure that I looked as red as a beetroot right now. But before I could process this, she turned around and ran to her door. And while she struggled with the locks, none of us moved. Not me nor my brothers.
We stood in place, battling with our inner demons and wondering if it would be a good idea to follow ’this kind of Leilani’ into her house; But the more we stood there, the more difficult it became to make a decision.
A few moments later and she finally pried the door open; and after she did that, she spun around quickly, beamed a beautiful beautiful smile at us and waved her bottle over her head, shouting; "Seek shelter now, your highnesses! Come with me!"
I had taken a step forward before realizing that I had moved against my will. That was how strong the hold this woman had on me was.
But before I could voice out this thought, I noticed that Caelum had long since left our side and now, he was marching to the door, almost walking in.
The sight made my heart race. But why?
I do not know.
So I found myself shouting out loud; "Stop!"
He stopped and turned around and I noticed to my dismay that he looked just as conflicted as I felt. His eyes darted from my face to the open door where Leilani still stood beckoning us in like the little devil that she was; and then he caved in to her.
And guys, it wasn’t that I didn’t trust myself around her. It wasn’t like I couldn’t control myself when the— her— temptation arises. The problem is just that... that I couldn’t control what the mate bond could do to us. I didn’t know the extent to which she was drunk and I didn’t want her to wake up tomorrow, regretting why she ever opened her door to us.
I tried to speak but my throat felt glued together. Even my legs on their own accord began to move towards the open door. I stepped in last and when I did, she shut the door quickly behind us and smiled, cleaning the water off her face as she said;

—But come to think of it, she could easily do that if she wanted to. We were that weak around her...
