Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 477

Chapter 477: Broken new slate.

Kael.

I was too ashamed to be found anywhere close to that place where father and daughter were having their pretty little reunion, and also too flustered and scared to continue to share the same room with a man who knows that I— we— had killed his brother, Theon.

Hearing about how I had actively participated in taking the life of an innocent man simply because my father had given the order twisted at my guts, burned at my lungs... until I felt too filthy to be seen anywhere near that room even for another second.

I had stumbled out of the room like the devil was hot on my tails and it wasn’t until I stepped out, dragged in a lungful of the less tense air outside and cleared the blurriness in my vision that I realized that my brothers had stepped out too— probably feeling just as ashamed as I was.

We did not speak to each other. No one cared to speak, but the silence was soon disrupted when Zevran suddenly hissed; "We do not deserve her."

For the first time, I agreed with him.

"We do not deserve Leilani and should let her go." He continued, his voice wavering so badly, one would think he was usually vocally impaired if they didn’t know him well enough.

From under hooded eyes, I saw Caelum step forward, and knowing how stubborn he could be sometimes— all the time— had expected him to argue with Zevran and I, but to my shock. He nodded and gulped, his face slowly turning ashen as he asked;

"Am I the only one who saw Alpha Ragnar’s eyes?"

I frowned. "What about the eyes?" I asked.

At the sound of my question, he pushed forward, his movements frantic and almost desperate. He held onto my hand, shook it wildly and hissed; "the look in his eyes was murderous. He wants us dead. It is obvious that he hates us more than the devil itself... and there is no way in hell that he would allow his only daughter to spend the rest of her life with us."

"Oh." That was Zevran. But he didn’t look surprised. If anything, he seemed like he had expected it. Like we deserved it. I mean, he was right. He is always right.

"Let us leave." I found myself saying out loud, sounding very much like the coward I didn’t want to be known as.

My cowardly brothers did not argue. If anything, they began to walk away even before the words could fully leave my mouth. And as we got into the elevator heading downstairs, I could only worry about Leilani.

About the shock she must feel when she realizes that we had left without saying goodbye.

And the annoyance...

And the betrayal.

These things normally should have made me want to go back to her but I did not because I was too ashamed to face her. Too cowardly to pretend like the last couple of minutes didn’t happen.

The elevator doors slid shut and it wasn’t until then that I let out the breath I didn’t even know I was holding.

My chest was inexplicably tight, but deciding that it was better to live through this tightness than to feel that embarrassment I felt earlier, I lowered my head and closed my eyes. And I did not open it until the elevator opened at the ground floor... sorry, the basement, where our cars were parked.
