Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 476

Chapter 476: I will never forgive.

Leilani.

I do not know how long Uncle Theo— my father— and I stood in that spot, hugging each other like in the next minute, one of us could disappear. All I knew was that I didn’t want to let go and I knew he felt the same.

Fine, there was some tiny twisted part of me that still didn’t believe him. A part of me that feared that this might be a prank or something... but in the moment, I ignored those thoughts. I ignored the voices whispering them into my ears as well and focused instead on the way his chest rose and fell rapidly. The way his breath would catch whenever I moved in his arms... and the way his shoulders continued to shake as if in suppressed tears.

A couple of minutes had gone past before we finally broke out of each other’s arms and even after I pulled away, I still remained within reach. Close to him. Like a child who just learned the use of an umbrella while being lost under the rain.

His eyes found mine and held, and in that moment, there was no mistaking the tenderness in his features. The love. The attention to details...

"It is why you found it annoying whenever I called you Uncle Theon."

My sudden outburst made him smile and to my utmost surprise, I watched him lower his head like a shy boy, scratch the back of his neck and nodded. "Yes."

His voice now was softer. Softer than it has ever been. There was no iciness in his tone or the usual mask of indifference when he looked at me and suddenly asked; "What do you mean by your mother is atoning for her sins?"

I shrugged. "Like I said earlier, she’s in jail..." I began to say but stopped when he waved his hands dismissively at me.

"I do not mean that. I want to know what she did to warrant that."

"Why?" The word escaped my parted lips before I could help it, scratching its way through my sore throat to the tip of my tongue. I subconsciously recoiled, wrapping my arms around myself as I took a step away from my father...

My father.

That still sounded very surreal...

I still felt like I was dreaming!

Back to earth, Princess!

—And then I turned away, my voice hoarse as I whispered; "She hurt me."

At first, father stared at the sudden space I had created between us like it was an abomination, and then his eyes whipped up with urgency when he heard the next words I spoke. I saw something akin to a look of disbelief fleet across his features before he slowly tapered it down.

He drawled; "How?"

That made it sound like he couldn’t quite believe me. Like I was telling a lie. Like I was nothing but a petulant child who had read too much meaning to the things my parents had done to me in the past... and I couldn’t help but fear if it was all just in my head.

That was my thought until I remembered the numerous beatings, the neglect... the several times my blood had been drawn to save Chalice who had only suffered maybe a scratch or had ’suddenly decided’ that she needed some blood. I remembered the time when I had been branded a murderer because of a crime Chalice had committed. I remembered not knowing I had a wolf-Lycan simply because my mother and her husband had been too cowardly to face the truth about what— who— I was.

And goddess... sweet goddess, this flood of bad memories made me shudder.
