Faux Vows, True Desires novel Chapter 537

Owen casually pulled out his leather wallet and extracted a few credit cards, each one more prestigious than the last—platinum, black, you name it. He gently took Cecilia's hand and placed the cards in her palm with a wide grin.

"Sweetheart, I'm handing over my paycheck," he announced with a playful twinkle in his eye.

Cecilia looked down at the cards, astonished. Her mouth opened, but no words came out.

"I promised you, once we got hitched, you'd be the CFO of our little empire. My money is your money, and your money is, well, still yours," Owen chuckled, recalling Cecilia's dreams of becoming the wealthiest woman in Pinehurst.

With Lucinda back in Skywatch, Owen was determined to let Cecilia take the throne, if only temporarily.

"The PIN for these cards," he whispered, leaning close to her ear, "is your birthday."

He always remembered her birthday, and naturally, so did she.

"And about my properties, cars, stocks—let's schedule a time to transfer everything over to you," he added.

Cecilia was both touched and amused. "Aren't you worried I might take everything and leave you high and dry?" she teased.

Owen laughed. "I can always make more money, and you wouldn't dare get rid of your golden goose, would you, darling?"

Cecilia giggled, handing the cards back. "I was just joking before, trying to get a rise out of you. You should manage your own assets. I make plenty on my own these days."

In her mind, a self-sufficient woman is a strong woman. She didn't want to rely entirely on Owen. After all, love might be strong now, but who knows what the future holds? A little financial independence meant she'd never be at a disadvantage.

"I'm serious about this," Owen insisted, slipping the cards back into her hand. "I bring in the bacon, you spend it. It's a husband's duty to pamper his wife."

Seeing his determination, Cecilia relented, handing him back one card. "Alright, since you're so insistent, I'll manage the finances. But you, as the big boss, need some cash for business schmoozing. Consider this your allowance."

"As for your properties and stocks, keep them. You're way better at managing those than I am."

Owen was just thrilled she accepted any of it. He took back one card with a smile. "Alright, my dear wife, I'll take this as my pocket money."

Even if she didn't want everything, the money would still find its way back to her. Owen cheerfully tucked the cards back into his wallet. "My wife is so generous, giving me such a hefty allowance."

The guards around them exchanged glances, knowing full well that Owen's so-called allowance was anything but ordinary.
