How much he wished he could've been there that sweltering summer day, to shield her from those two dogs rushing up to her, to show her that there were people in this world who would help and love her.
Estelle didn't struggle, but fended off the man's advances with a composed expression. He was more unsettling than the dogs behind him.
Soon, the elevator stopped at the sixteenth floor. The woman holding the dogs sneaked a peek at the entwined couple before taking her dogs and leaving.
Once the elevator doors closed, Estelle immediately stepped out of the man's embrace and turned to face the elevator doors.
Jonathan leaned against the elevator wall, his gaze never leaving her retreating figure.
The elevator stopped again. Estelle stepped out with Jonathan following close behind.
She entered the password to open the door. The moment it opened, she darted inside and slammed it shut with a bang.
Jonathan, left outside, was speechless.
Inside, Estelle let out a long sigh, feeling like the pent-up frustration of the past few days had finally found some release.
Jonathan knocked on the door, "Open up, let's talk."
"There's nothing to talk about!" Estelle leaned against the door, her tone icy. "Mr. Lamont isn't short on women. No need to lower yourself to my level."
"What woman?" Jonathan spoke softly, "The woman you saw at the restaurant that day was set up for a blind date with me, I had no prior knowledge."
"You don't need to explain anything to me, go explain to your girlfriend!" Estelle retorted coldly.
Jonathan paused for a moment, "I don't have a girlfriend, I only have a wife."
"Not for long!"
Jonathan gave a small smile, but didn't answer.
Charlie assumed he was teasing him because he was upset, so he didn't think too much of it.
Jonathan's car had barely left the neighbourhood when Emily, carrying a small cake, arrived.
As she walked, she called Estelle, "Are you off work yet? I got a cake. I'm going to make you something yummy tonight."
Estelle answered with a smile, "I'm going to take a shower first, then come downstairs."
"Okay, I'll wait for you!"
Emily walked up the stairs and pushed open the door. Ms. Simmons came to greet her. Kya was engrossed with her toys in the living room, not even noticing Emily's arrival.

This was soooooo sooooo good! I loved it! Thank you for the updates....
Then Melanie and Noreen will both understand that Emily is his wife, who he chooses and cares to be with. We’ve already had so much drama when Emily took off for three years hiding her pregnancy from Charlie. Emily has already confessed that the only man she loves is Kya father, which Charlie is. Now he needs to boldly claim the only woman he loves is Emily…I just had to add my two cents (he he he)....
Now Charlie needs to take Emily to the marriage office like Gabriel did with Sylvia . Reassure her that he will not take for granted. Thank you for the updates. I’m loving it....
