Chapter 1261
The sound insulation effect of this type of house had always been poor.
As Charlie headed to the bathroom, a sudden image popped into his head. The thought of him and Emily using the same shower gel threw him for a loop.
He was only tipsy initially, but now he was already half drunk.
It seemed ages before the bathroom went silent, the door next door closed, and the hallway light was snuffed out.
Listening to the sound of the door closing next door, Charlie was a bit miffed. Shouldn’t she have checked on him before bedtime? After all, he was a guest staying at her place. Why didn’t she come over to see if he was comfortable or at least say goodnight?
She really didn’t give a damn about him!
Charlie was bummed out and pissed at himself for sticking around. He tossed and turned until late at night before falling asleep.
After sleeping, who knew how long, he got up to pee. Not being his house, he couldn’t find the hallway switch, bumbled his way in, then bumbled his way out, and pushed open the door to go back to sleep.
Getting to the bed, he peeled back the covers and lay down. After a while, he realized something was off.
He was holding a woman in his arms.
The first thought that came to his mind was, which cheeky lass had crawled into his bed this time!”
With a frown, Charlie’shoved the woman, and said in a low voice, “Get out before I lose my mind!”
Emily woke up with the push, felt a presence on the bed, immediately sat up, instinctively leaned back to protect herself, and asked nervously, “Who is it?” Charlie also sat up, looking at Emily in the darkness, his mind slowly clearing. He couldn’t help but get mad, “Emily? What are you doing in my bed?”
Emily, both embarrassed and angry, kicked him hard, “Is this your bed?”
Charlie, sitting on the edge of the bed, rolled off with Emily’s kick.
Emily was startled and reached out to grab him. Charlie instinctively grabbed her hand before falling off the bed, and they both tumbled off the bed.
Emily landed in Charlie’s arms. He rolled over and pressed her under him.
Luckily, Emily, fearing Kya might roll off the bed while sleeping, had laid out a carpet on the floor. The two fell on the carpet, not hurting much..
His warm breath, tinged with the smell of alcohol, brushed Emily’s cheek, causing her heartbeat to race uncontrollably.
She pushed him away, “Where are you hurt? Can you get up by yourself?”
Charlie felt a bit dizzy and didn’t feel like getting up, so he replied softly, “Yeah, it hurts a bunch, can’t get up.”
Emily asked worriedly, “Did you break something? Should I call an ambulance?”
“I didn’t break anything, just don’t move me!” Charlie grabbed her hand.
Being half-lying and half-holding like this brought them even closer.
In the deep of the night, clouds obscured the moonlight. The room was pitch black, and only their breathing was distinctly audible, sobering and yet somewhat entrancing..
“Emily!” Charlie suddenly spoke, asking in a low voice, “Have you thought about me these last couple of years?”
