Emily nodded nervously, and turned to walk towards the elevator.. 

When she reached the thirty-ninth floor, Tracy had just left the CEO’s office. She looked at Emily with a hint of schadenfreude in her eyes, along with a bit of mockery and disdain. 

Emily sat down at her desk and tried to call Wilson, but there was no answer.. 

A chill settled in her heart as she stood up and walked towards Charlie’s office. 

She knocked on the door and entered, finding Charlie in the middle of a phone call. He barely glanced at her. 

Emily waited until he finished his call before speaking, “Mr. James, I didn’t leak the bidding details to Horizon Enterprises” 

Charlie’s sharp gaze fixed on Emily as he responded slowly, “I told you to keep a distance from Wilson. Did you listen?” 

Emily bit her lip, remaining silent. 

“Did you call Wilson?” Charlie asked. 

Emily paused a moment before saying in a low voice, “I did call, but he didn’t answer.” 

“Huh.” Charlie scoffed, his lips curling in disdain. 

Emily tried to explain, Wilson isn’t that kind of person. There must be a misunderstanding!” 

“Misunderstanding?” Charlie’s face darkened, his anger rising. “Even now, you’re still defending him? Did you really trust him that much? Those screenshots clearly leaked from within Horizon Enterprises. Without his consent, do you think those photos could have made their way to other companies? Emily, do you lack basic judgment?” 

Emily’s face turned red and then pale as she was scolding by him. She lowered her gaze and said, “I’ll go with Mr. Gavin to meet with those representatives later. I have evidence to prove that I haven’t accepted any bribes from Horizon Enterprises.” 

Charlie looked at her coldly and said, “You don’t need to go. Starting from today, you’re out of the energy station bidding project. All the documents will be handed over to Tracy 

“No!” Emily raised her gaze to meet Charlie’s, determination shining in her eyes, I’ll take care of the mess I’ve caused for the company. I’m well aware of the significant impact this has on the James Group’s reputation. I’ll resign once everything is resolved.” 

Charlie’s lips curled into a cold smile, “Are you really feeling guilty, or are you just seeking an excuse to leave me?” 

Emily’s eyes flickered, “It’s not about you. According to company’s regulations, regardless of my innocence, I bear responsibility for the harm to the company’s reputation.” 

“Emily!” Charlie’s face turned serious, his voice lowering, “Why is your first instinct always to retreat when you encounter difficulties?” 

Emily looked at him, swallowing the bitterness in her mouth and slowly spoke, “Because I have nothing. I can’t bear the consequences, and I don’t want to 

burden others” 

Charlie’s pupils narrowed slightly, a touch of mystery deepening within them. 

“Knock, knock, knock!” 

Gavin knocked on the door and entered. Seeing Emily was present, he greeted her with a smile, “Emily” 

Charlie shifted his gaze away from Emily to Gavin, “Did you call Horizon Enterprises?” 

I did. Wilson answered and said they’re currently verifying the situation!” Gavin replied. 

Charlie let out a cold chuckle, “So, the phone can be reached” 

Emily’s face turned pale. She had just expressed her trust in Wilson, but she was swiftly proven wrong Wilson’s phone could be reached, he simply chose 

not to answer her calls. 

“Mr Gavin, i’ll go with you to meet with the representatives of the Inver Group I explain to them.” Emily turned to Gavin with a clear and determined gaze 

Charlie interjected coldly, I’ve already told you that you’re not allowed to participate in this project anymore” 

“Once I’ve explained everything, I’ll follow your orders! Emily said stubbornly, 

Without waiting for Charlie’s response, she turned and left
