The guy next to him was taking a sip of water and ended up spraying it out. 

Zachary was laughing so hard that molars were exposed. Their boss, Xavier, living off a woman? 

That was laughable! 

Of course, Xavier had no idea he was the topic of his staff’s chit-chat. He felt a strange heaviness, probably due to the fact that he was about to return to the Hanson family soon. 

He walked through the kitchen and headed towards the backyard. When he entered, he saw a girl in overalls by the tap, filling a water jug. She was half-crouching, with a big cat laymg at her feet, allowing her to pet it. 

A branch of a rose happened to lean over. With her delicate and lively profile, the whole backyard suddenly burst to life. 

Xavier’s heart skipped a beat. Didn’t Damian say she had left? 

He paused for a moment, and then stepped into the yard, casually asking, “Why did you come over on such a important festival?” 

Norah turned her head at the sound of his voice, her eyes twinkling mischievously, she chirped, “I missed you!” 

Xavier suddenly looked up, furrowing his brow unconsciously and saying, “Norah, if you keep this up, I’ll call Jonathan right away!” 

Norah raised an eyebrow, muttering under her breath, I’m in my thirties, I can date anyone without my parents’ permission?” 

Xavier was so frustrated that his forehead veins throbbed, “Date? I will tell Jonathan to stop you coming here. He didn’t want you to come here in the first place! 

Norah stood up and walked over to him, “Alright, don’t be mad, I was just kidding!” 

Her doe-like efes stared at him, and her voice carried a hint of coyness, making Xavier’s heart ache. He kept silent without uttering a word.

Xavier presumed the other half of the pumpkin pie was eaten by Norah, and he declined, “I don’t like sweets!” 

“This is pumpkin; it’s not very sweet!” Norah grinned, “Just try a bit!” 

Xavier looked at her smile, which melted his heart, and took the pie and took a bite. 

“How does it taste? Norah asked and her eyes full of anticipation. 

Xavier nodded, “It’s not bad!” 

Norah burst into a grin, “It must be delicious. The cat took a big bite and devoured half of it in one go. If I didn’t stopped it, there would be none left for you! 

Xavier looked at Norah in shock, “The cat ate the other half of the pie?” 

“Yep!” Norah nodded. 

Xavier, holding the quarter pie left in his hand, his face turned pale, “Norah.” 

“Just kidding” Norah burst into laughter, “I ate it, actually!” 

Xavier looked at her suspiciously, then at the cat who was wagging its tail beside them 

“Don’t believe me?” Norah raised an eyebrow, “Then I’ll show you!” 

She reached up, took hold of Xavier’s wrist, and in one swift movement, took a bite of the pie in his hand. 

Her soft lips brushed against his fingers. Xavier felt his heart race, his body stiffening. 

Norah, whose cheeks stuffed with pie, looked adorable, “Now, do you believe me?” 

Her innocent demeanor made it seem as if she had no idea how provocative her recent action might be for a man.
